I believe that each individual bus station can only reliably handle a
certain number of buses. Each has 2 spaces, so if you say tried to run a
service to another station with 2 buses, you'll be fine as there can
never be more than 2 buses in one station. If you try it with 4 buses
again you should generally be OK as they probably won't all be bunched
up together. Any more than this though and if lots of buses converge on
one station at once, you get clogged up as both parking spaces are
filled, and extra vehicles are getting to the entrance, turning around,
and coming back, and meeting another one coming in. If a third turns up,
then you will notice they probably all jam up!

I found this out to my cost when I first got TT as I tried to play close
to real life with one central bus station in a town providing services
to lots of suburban stations, but you really have to play like the AI
does and just run lots of point to point services, with a maximum of
about 4 buses serving every station. If you do try and run lots of buses
to one station, provide lots of turning loops nearby so they can drive
around and this reduces the chances of getting clogged up.

Hi,

What Stephen said :) Also, I realise that once your towns start getting
bigger, your bus stations tend to get a ridiculous amount of passengers.
Things like 1500 passengers waiting are not uncommon. I have also found that
although this should really annoy the populace, it doesn't seem to bother
them at all. As long as the buses are constant, they are quite happy. I
remember when I first started playing, I would look through my stations and
see thousands of passengers waiting at a bus stop and send buses to it like
a mad thing... Until they clogged up of course :)

Another tip, If you want to run further buses, space them out if they have
to travel any distance. If you want to run 6 buses between two stops, build
them all and give them their orders, then send the first one. wait until it
is far enough away so that when the first bus is leaving the second one
should be close but not quite arriving and then keep doing this until you've
got all of your buses moving. The trouble with this method is, that if you
don't keep your eye on them, they can still bunch up, so I don't usually
bother.

HTH.. and made sense... hmm? :)

I've had the same problem.
Solution: Make sure you have a STRAIGHT ROAD (no intersections or turns) in
the square next to the entrance!

About the stations tending to have few thousand people waiting: I usually
place one bus station in the middle of the town and some to the outskirts.
And then 2-3 buses driving lines, usually all visiting the central station
at some point. Then I "ride" with the combination railway station - lorry
station (or whatever the name was) by clearing some road out of the way and
then place a railway station, place a lorry station, demolish the railway
station, place another further up the way and then demolish the lorry
station and so on. Then I have a railway station gathering all the
passengers from the downtown but not taking the area of all the town. The
buses make the town grow very rapidly while the trains can handle very large
passenger quantities. Because I play original TT, I can't think about any
larger bus quantities than 3 per town (I heard the vehicle limits are much
more higher in TTDx than in TT original, am I right?).

Sometimes I let the game run and do something else (watch TV etc.), because
I don't like the 50's and the 60's. One time I forgot that I had the game
running, and when I got back my bus station had 4000+ passengers, the train
station in the same town had 1000+. This was quite impressing, consideriing
that the city only had 6000+ citizens!

Unfortunately, the game knows this and has tricks up its sleeve.
For starters, your performance history will drop. Secondly, if playing on
fluctuating economy, things shut down everywhere!!
I left a game running for about 45mins and it was in ruins on my return!!
Sneaky little bugger.

Yeah, TTo will let you do this however. I used to run it on a sx/33
and I left it running overnight just so I could advance 20 years or so.
Completing a game to several days of continuous running.

The solution to this is to concentrate your services into just a few towns,
and provide a good service in and between each of these; not to try and have
a foot in each camp, and end up only being able to provide mediocre services
in any one town.

My bus drivers keep going on strike. Demanding less hours. They moan about
working through the night, but when is it night in TTDX?? And sometimes my
buses take 6 or 7 days to get from depot to station - a long distance bus
driver???
Poor little critters.

Poor little critters.

And think about this: my bus drivers haven't got a day of holiday for 30
years. They just keep driving around. And the poor passengers have to wait
a
bus for months, and when the bus finally comes, it can get them anywhere,
no
hope of getting where you want. You just have to board the next vehicle
arriving. And what about the mess inside the buses, I don't think the bus
smells very nice inside after all those 3-month trips and not even
cleaning
before the next trip.
