I'd like to know what's happened to the official runner of this Chris Locke.
He said he'd do it in a day or two, but it's now been four. Anyway, I think
that we should use these rules for the contest.
Max Competitors: 0 - this was Chris's recommendation, not mine. Complain to
him!
Competitor Start time: Irrelevant as there won't be any.
Towns: Depends on scenario
Industries: Depends on scenario
Loan: £500,000
Interest: 2%
Vehicle running costs: Low
Speed of computer: Irrelevant as there won't be any.
Intelligence of computer: Irrelevant as there won't be any.
Breakdowns: Reduced
Subsidy multiplier: x4
Construction costs: Low (it costs enough as it is to raise the sea bed. Can
be £32,000!)
Type of land: Depends on scenario
Sea/Lakes: Depends on scenario
Economy: Fluctuating
Train reversing: At end of line and at stations
Disasters: On
These I think are very fair.
The other comment on more than one scenario, well I think there should
only be one as if we have more, then we'll end up with it being unfair.
I think we are probably best going until 2050. It's more of a challenge,
and we want to be able to use monorail and Maglev train lines.
The other comment on how will we decide the winner. I think it should be
a mixture of annual operating profit and performance points, with
performance points being the most crucial. We will have to go right till the
end in 2050, so we can get an accurate reading of your performance points.
About cheats and patches - there is a way you can see if someone is
cheating, the host will have to analyse everyone's game using the patch from
http://publish.uwo.ca/~jdrexler/ttdpatch/. I'm not sure whether it checks
all cheats. We'll just have to trust everyone!
Chris's website has a league table ready and waiting for entries. This
will track everyone's progress. He can also post it on here every few days.
Screenshots wouldn't help to track cheaters, as they are a still
picture, you couldn't see the speed of a train. And anyway, the patch from
above doesn't have a 24,000 mph train in it.
Prizes for the winner would be difficult. You'd have to send it through
the post, and it might 'get lost,' as so often happens with big things.
And one last thing, this could only be for the people with Transport
Tycoon DELUXE. It wouldn't work with the older version.
Hope this has cleared a lot of things up. If you agree with what I've said
about rules, then just say so.
Eddie
