Hi
I'm running ttdx through booting into DOS from win95 and I'm having a
problem with it crashing a lot. I used to be able to run the game with
sound, but now to play it I have to take out the sound with setup.exe. If I
try to set it to play sound, I get all the way to naming my president etc
but as soon as I press on of the buttons along the top of the screen, either
the screen goes black and hangs my PC or it freezes and then after a wee
whiile it restarts my computer. Anyone got any ideas on whats happening?
TIA.

Re: Dang thing keeps crashing...
Definetly a sound problem. Eek.the screen goes black and hangs my PC or it freezes and then after a wee

What sound card ya got? I know there is a prob with PCI soundcards in
Win98, and certain DOS games can't detect it.
Outside of Windows though, it should be ok.
Also, you said that you had it running once. But now you can't. Anything
changed in the meantime to cause this? Installed anything new, that could
have nicked an IRQ or two?
Tried reinstalling Tycoon? My copy was doing strange things, but when I
reinstalled, all was happy....
Just a couple of thoughts...

etc card that was bundled with my p166 IBM Aptiva 2 and a half years ago.
Another thing I've noticed, if I boot into DOS wiothout first going into
windows, the mouse drivers don't load which leaves all the games that seem
to only play in DOS and which need mice take ages to get to. This hasn't
always been the case. It seems things just randomly mess themselves up with
our computer. Not just the New Zealand police having problems with IBM.
I have tryed re installing it I think but no difference. Probably should
try it again sometime.

I don't want to teach you to suck eggs but if you type MOUSE at the c:\
prompt it should load your mouse driver in dos. You can also add the line
c:\mouse to your autoexec.bat file and it will load your mouse driver when
you switch on every time.
Hope this helps

dot bat files to run a program with a command line option thingy.

Thanks.
Re: Dang thing keeps crashing...
The other cause of grief is IRQ and DMA settings.
Tycoon uses these to "talk" to the card. If you use the wrong settings,
Tycoon is trying to talk to the modem or something instead - and thus the
crash.
Does the card work ok in Windows?
If so, please reply.
