Help - how to ask wagon to fully load for iron core ?

Post by ghariman »

Hi,

Yesterday I made a network of 2 trains.
One carying coal and another carying iron core, both going to a stell mill.

Now I understand that the coal wagon can also be used as an iron core wagon. You don't need to do anything as the wagon will automatically detect if there is iron core or coal in the station to pick up.
But if I ask the train and wagon to full load at a station, it will only want to full load for coal (which works for the train that carries coal but not the iron core).
What should I do ?
I am very confused !

Then what will happen if I have a train that wants to carry both coal and iron core (say there is a coal mine and iron core mine next to each other and one station can get both) ? How will that work ???

Thanks !
:)

To get the train to wait for a full load of Iron Ore, hold in the "Wait for Full Load" button, and select Iron Ore or Coal.

So you mean "hold" down the "wait for Full Load" button and some selection box will pop-up ?
Because yesterday when I clicked (and not hold-down) that button, it only asked to full load coal (and not iron ore).

Can you confirm this please ? Thanks.

Just hold it in (the key is to press the mouse, and not release), and a list of the different cargos that the train can carry will appear. Select the desired cargo.

That's a problem, that can't be solved on a normal way.
If you give full load orders, then that works only for one type of cargo.
If you don't give orders, then it can work out for a year if both mines iron and coal don't give there max output.
When the first mine raises production. then you have no empty wagon any more at the second mine, and this one will die.
There for a ask Loewe 13 to change two wagons from the N.L. Set for me.
Now i have a brown open wagon only for coal, and a blue hopper wagon only for iron ore.
When you make your circle around both mines now, and you don't give orders like full load then each wagon becomes his own cargo.
You can find them here, with regards to Scrat and Oppie.

They have there own names, so they don't replace your originals.
Just put them in your Objdata file.
You can change other wagons to with Locotool or Locotool Frontend II.

Here it is in action...im about to select paper from the three cargos a flatbed can load.
Image

Same goes for the unload button. Just hold and select.

Its an important thing to master...especially when dealing with lumber and paper. As sometimes you want your lumber train to pick up paper once its delivered lumber to a paper mill. Somethimes you dont want it to pick up paper.

Chevvy and I have different solutions for the advanced problem he outlines. Maybe you will develop your own in due course when you get well into the game.

Good luck and enjoyment.

Severous, like i said in an other topic, it's a problem for the most how to handle with lumber and paper.
If you bring lumber to a papermill, then you also have to give the option "unload all Paper"at the lumber train , otherwise the train loads the paper and transports it back to the forrest.
When arrived at the forrest the train can't load lumber because the car is loaded with paper.
To avoid this i take the flatbed from the N.L.Set, wich can't transport paper (only lumber and steel) for lumber transport, and the standard flatbed for paper.
