I am trying to play ttd win version in a network, I use win xp and the other pc win 2k and have currently installed ttdpatch 2.0 rev 1.

You have to have the latest Alpha of the Patch. You have the latest stable version, which doesn't do multiplayer.
Even with an Alpha, multiplayer doesn't work at all well, so cross your fingers.
