Planeset [version 1.5.3 released 2006-10-24]

All current sprites (that I know of) are posted here:

You can easily find the 7E7. Can you take a peek at the Sonic Cruiser also? I remember some worries about the pallette with that one too.
I think the Antonov needed some graphic adjustment too, the shading seemed to be quite difficult. There have been many attempts at it. But that's more a drawing matter. I know it's already been coded.

The 7E7 (Will be renamed 787 in next release) is intact, palette has been just fine ever since we used the 7E7 sprite that was drawn by me. I don't know what's wrong with Sonic Cruiser, colors are OK, shape - I don't know.
Coming weekend is about the first weekend for four or five weeks I shouldn't have any "disturbances" considering Planeset. I'll try to include the latest modifications and do a new rel during the weekend.

Planeset has been officially released!

Great!
Is the Sonic Cruiser in the set already, or is it waiting for something?
Do I have the correct 7e7/787 sprite on my tracking table? If not, can you post the correct one here for me?
So I guess that would mean all we need is the Osprey and Shorts, and could use some improvements on the Antonov. None of those would prevent a full public release of the set. That means we just need playtesting and price testing, after your release this weekend. I'll make some arrangements for that.

787 in tracking table is fine, you can declare it ready.
Sonic Cruiser has been in the set for god-knows-how-long and is fine but if someone wants to tweak it, it'd be a good thing.
Antonov needs more shading but current version is good for beta, I'll try to include the version that was coded a while ago into the new release.
Shorts 330 needs to be drawn - or replaced by Fokker F-27...
Osprey - Somebody do something.

The military Osprey is much bigger than the Bell 609. The soldiers sit seated, not stacked. The Japanese are planning a civilian version of it for commuter purposes. No, it doesn't exist yet, any more than does the 7E7 or Sonic Cruiser, but we're making a reasonable projection.
Anyway, somebody draw an Osprey! And a Shorts (oh, alright, I'll take a Fokker if it gets drawn first.

You can't post PCX files on the forum. Can you convert it to PNG, then repost?
Also, don't forget you have to use the TTD pallette.

Aydan, that look super! However, there are some important points you have to consider:
1. You must use the TTD pallette or it won't work. Depending on what you're using for a graphics program, you can grab one of the sprite-sets that's already finished from the tracking table
http://www.as-st.com/ttd/planes/planes.html
and use the pallette from that. TTD is very picky that the colors be the right ones, and also they have some special "magic" colors that you need to avoid.
2. The background has to be the special transparent-blue color that the rest of them are.
3. The engines and rotors have to be a completely separate piece from the main fuselage. That's because you have to draw separate version of them for all 8 directions in the "helicopter" position, and also a set of the 8 directions in the "flying" (rotated) position. The game will put the right set on the screen, in combination with the fuselage pointing in the right direction. If you look particularly at the Chinook, you'll see how the rotors are completely separate from the fuselage, but drawn carefully so that when superimposed over the fuselage, they line up. In the case of the Osprey there's one other aspect, and that is that you have to not draw whatever portion of the engine would be obscured by the fuselage/wing in any particular view, because the game doesn't know to put it behind.
But you've made a really first-class start! Was that rendered from a 3-D object of some kind? If so, you might want to make the three different livery versions at the same time - company-color (which is painted using specific pallette shades of magic-blue, replaced by the game with the company color), cargo livery (grey with a blue stripe I suppose) and airline livery (I'd say white with blue/red striping, like BA or United).
Can't wait to see it done!

I believe the size fits perfectly.
You will find instructions on drawing TTD sprites here:
http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php ... phicsSpecs
Don't worry about any of the coding stuff, you just want the first two entries in that list.
There's some information on the palette here:
http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php ... umentation
If that doesn't answer your questions, I recommend that you PM Purno or cornelius.

Wow! That's super impressive! I can't judge it completely until I see all the sprites assembled and tested in-game, but in pieces it looks great!
459, do you think it will be possible to code and test it this weekend?
As far as Zeppelin shading, probably 6 people had a go at drawing zeppelins, and the ones from DaleStan are the only ones that were even remotely decent. I think they're pretty good myself. I agree they could be improved but it's really hard. If anyone wants to have a go, certainly they may; and if the results are better, we'll include them and credit accordingly. But I won't lose any sleep over it.
459, when you're issuing your new version, there's one change that needs to be made to the names of all the aircraft. After the names there needs to be an (H), (S) or (L), for Helicopter, Small-airport and Large-airport. It's no longer just a matter of jet/not jet and rotors/not rotors, and there needs to be a way to tell them apart.

Yes, actually, I believe that can be done. I didn't know that's how the Osprey worked.
In TTD, the Osprey will always take off like a helicopter, even when it's at an airport and could technically use the runway IRL. That's unavoidable. But the game can change the graphics when it's in the takeoff/landing cycle, and when it's on the ground, and when it's in free-flight. So yes, if you want to draw that many versions, I think they can be put to use.
It's a good thing we have a higher sprite limit now. It looks like the Osprey alone will take, eh, almost 100 sprites all by itself.
