Cheat to switch from railroad to maglev

Post by Delapro »

I need urgently cheat that converts all the tracks to maglev like in ttdpatch.
It`s very boring to change my 160 trains from railroad to maglev.
I`m in 2022 year still on railroad.

Select maglev build menu. Far to the right there is a conversion tool. Select it and drag over track to be converted.

Remember to sell all your trains on tracks to be converted before you start.

The point is that I don`t want to sell all my 160 trains and build them again, I want to replace the tracks with the trains (like in TTDPatch).

Okay, it's not a solution, but instead of selling trains, I crash them all (use 'Ignore signals' button). Much faster :D

don't you remember the routes you have...
even though on a made natwork it's easy to put trains on
*look* -> *build*
what's so hard about that

In my game I've got over 550 trains now (1992 now), and there’s another 500 that I’m planning to build (if my computer handles it). Believe me that changing that amount of trains and giving them proper orders (even with shared ones) will take far too much time.

I agree with you and Delapro, a feature that lets your railroad trains run on monorail/maglev like in ttdpatch is really needed. If you have a huge network it's just to much work to rebuild every train like now. Maybe devs think it's too unrealistic to run railroad engines on monorail/maglev ? Well, then put it as a cheat...

I guess that the upgrade system will be extended so that "upgrading" is possible. There will NOT be a cheat that just upgrades the trains while they are outside of depots and there will NOT be a cheat either that will allow railroads on maglevs.

Finally, I really dont want to replace all my trains by hand , I did it once with 250 trains, and I still goloco when I think back about it

However, when some balancing is completed, it is rather unlikely that you will wish to convert every route you have to maglev :D

why not send all your trains to one depot off of all the lines, i.e getting rid of all but one (supposedly your using integrated natworks) and send all yor trains to the depot. then you check the orders and rebuild. the other option would be to make it so orders stay with the train even when going from one depot to the other. either way GOOD LUCK.

would it just be possible to etend the auto replacing tool and to make it possible to connect depos - you send all your trains too the depos they all stop in depo

u then convert the train and stations

u build maglev depos next to train depos and then start replacing.

new trains come out of the correct depo. then u dont need trains running on different track you just need depos to be compatible so you can have a block of depos connect side by side when the opening side is facing same way.

if that makes sense?

Never read the source, just started using OpenTTD, so cut me some slack if what I type is impossible and obvious that it is.

What about a button or option that sends all trains to the nearest depots, waits till they are all in, then automagiclly upgrades everything, track, depots, engines and wagons over x game days or months (adjustable).

As I say, dunno if it can be done, but it's a suggestion.
