can't find server

Post by nisita »

hello..

i want to play with a friend in the internet, but i have some problems.. i search the whole forum, but i can't find how i can solve the problem...

the problem is, when i start as a server, my friend can't find me, also the serverlist (servers.openttd.org) doesn't find me :(

my cgf-file:
server_bind_ip = 0.0.0.0
server_port = 3979
server_advertise = true
lan_internet = 0
player_name = Elmarit
server_password =
rcon_password =
server_name = maria
connect_to_ip = 212.80.224.243:3979

and the dedicated server says:

detected IPs:
0) 10.160.10.17
1) 10.255.1.188

but the both are local ip's.. my ip in the network is 212.80.224.243

please help me :)

PS: i have no router...

i thought i don't have a router too, but i had :oops:
think you have a firewall, deactivate it. Not only port 3979, all ports (i don't know why, thar was my prob)
and you must use that IP you have in the net...
look here for your IP

i closed the firewall, but nothing changed.. the server still says:

detected IPs:
0) 10.160.10.17
1) 10.255.1.188

perhaps this is right, but when my online ip is 212.80.224.243 i think the server should detect this ip... i don't know, becouse i don't know what the server should say..

i also tried with
server_bind_ip = 212.80.224.243
but then the server doesn't start...

thanks also for your help.. but that doesn't change something.. :(

Well you don't seem to be getting through to the master server.
The "detected IP's" does list your local IP (it's listing 192.168.1.2 for me, which as you may know, is generally used for LAN's).
The problem is most likely the fact you have a router mis-setup. There are several threads around that explain how to properly setup a router.
