Questions on PBS Settings

Post by Zath »

1): Is there some way to turn off automatic PBS while using the TTDPatch Configurator, or do I have to manually add miscmods=262144 to ttdpatch.cfg?

2): Even when I do add miscmods=262144 to ttdpatch.cfg manually, I still end up getting PBS blocks automatically. Is this setting only effective in new games, or is there some trick to making it work with existing saved games?

3): In the event that I do turn off automatic PBS, how do I enable and disable PBS for a signal block manually? Do I just cycle the signals while holding down the Ctrl key as I do when manually setting pre-signals?

Thank you!

1) add miscmods.noautomaticpbsblocks on to ttdpatch.cfg

2) if a crossing needs a PBS signal it will create one after the PBS block is cleared, no matter if you turn the automatic PBS signal off or not.

3) yes you have to cycle through.

2) If one signal leading into the block is a PBS signal, all of them are converted to PBS (or else you'd get train crashes). So maybe there was still one PBS signal that caused the whole block to become PBS.

3) You only need to set one signal for each block, though.

I have multiple junctions with one or more normal signals together with pathbased ones. Is this a bug ?

Same as above ;-)

The junction seen here has two pathbased presignals, but no pathbased exit signals, only plain signals.

Thanks! I managed to turn off the automatic PBS now. However, I'm still confused as to how I should go about toggling PBS manually. I have tried Ctrl-clicking but it doesn't seem to affect the PBS status of a signal block, even if I end up cycling through the pre-signals a dozen times. Is there some other keyboard and mouse combination I should be using for this instead?

If you don't have the DBxl 0.8 set installed you'll see no difference between a presignal and a pathbased signal.
You have to use the land querytool to see what signal it is.
If you cycle through you'll get :
  • normal signal
  • presignal
  • pre-exitsignal
  • pre-combined signal
  • pathbased entry signal
  • pathbased exitsignal
  • pathbased combined signal
  • normal signal

The US Signals set also has quite nice pre-signals, and PBS signals.

Hmmm, I didn't know that.
Last time I checked there were no PBS signals in it.

Duh.... the query window isn't udpated in real time. I was cycling through the signals thinking it would be reflected instantly in the query window. My bad!

Perhaps I didn't make it clear enough, but that statement only applies to signals leading into the block, not out of (unless they're two-way signals).

Aha that explains a lot, thanks. :D

Maybe I should read the Manual more carefully next time.
