Performance becomes negative after five months travel.
I had several goodtrains that earned euro 1.000.000 after every delivery.
The route was very long and took about 6 month to go around.
The performance staid high for 4 months, and running cost where only 10.000 euro.
So the profit was 1000.000 mines (4*10.000) was 960.000 euro.
After 5 months all profit was gone, and performance of that trains turned into red
So with this bug it isn't a good idea to make routes, which take more then 4 months.

Now that you are not building huge stations you are trying to make huge money on routes ?
If I understand you correctly - your trains are taking too long. The cargo perishes. The revenue earnt reduces to nil.
As your post mentions euro I assume you are playing a swiss syle map...this cargo table came from a swiss scenario. 4 months...120 days...as you can see there are several cargos that wont pay you anything for taking so long to deliver it.
I had the same problem first time I tried a helicopter...too long a route took too long and profitability was low/nonexistant.

Re:Severous
No, this is a diferent thing.
I realy became 1.000.000 euro by delivery.
And the money was counted to my cash, and stayed there, even after 5 months.
With runningcost of 10.000, this train could travel 100 month before it's loosing its profits.
But after 5 months i was told that this train made no profits at all.And went RED.
btw The scenarios i,ve finished already for months ago,i only play self made scenarios.

If I remember correctly, the train income shows the average income over the last 4 months. So if the train hasn't delivered anything for 4-5 months or more, it will list it's income as negative.
When it arrives at the unloading station and earns money, it takes a while before the shown profit updates itself to show a positive profit.
Chevyrider, can you check if it still has a red negative profit 2-3 months after delivery?

Ah hah

Thanks for that. Impressed i am. Ive not seen those locos before nor so much paper in the same place. Are you testing the print works industirial limits ?
I believe I understand your profit. I posted a detailed account on another forum when we were talking about achieving high ratings. Monthly profitability is a vital factor of that and your long haul trains are a really good example of how more can be less when getting really close to achieving a scenario objective involving rating/co value.
A vehicles monthly profitability is calculated from the average of its last 4 months. (4 months income less 4 months costs) divided by 4. So if the long haul train hasnt made any deliveries in the last 4 months its got no income just expenses. (0+0+0+0-32k-32k-32k-32k)/4 = -32k
When a train delivers its income is averaged over 4 months not the 5 or 6 it took to do the round trip. Next months income average will be (1935K+0+0+0-32k-32k-32k-32k)/4=1807k/4=452k....near enough what the other trains in your list have.
Now if you picked up the empty and put it back at the paper mill and gave it a clear run with a full load you might get two runs in a 4 month period for a much higher profitability and a higher rating... oh you are already at 100%
Sweet.

Re:Punar and Severous,
Thank you both guys for this clear explanation!
I checked the outcome of the trains and next hapened.
Ex. In the 5th month negative income. Then say 8.000.000 income of paper delivery.
The next month i have a profit of 25% of this is 200.000 euro.
Then as you both said this stays so for in total 4 months.
In the 5 th month this becomes negative due runningcost again, and so on.
So you see money isn't the isue.
But i think red in the trainperformance index also afects my compagny performance rating.
An other thing is, and that makes me angry is that when i have about 300 train, and 40 of them are red it's very difficult to see if this is normal, or that the train or truck realy doesn't makes profit at all, due that it's lost or that the industry is closed.
About the amount of paper.
I used the "Founding Industries" mod, and placed 6 forestes around a prebuild 16*4 station.
Cause the little room they produced only 0 till 120 tons in the beginning.
After a few years the production has risen to 1000 and one even till 1500 tons a month.
So i think this mod gives more production then the standard living things industries, like grapes, wheat, lumber and lifestock.
The highest i reached before this mod was 341 tons.

Chevy. You 'think' right that red hurts ratings.
Company value: (32xMonthly vehicle profits)+Cash-Loan.
Rating: 50% is due to Monthly vehicle profits and 50% is due to Cargoxdistance. Not sure on exact formula but clearly more profits and cargo distance helps. Red losses does not help.
The 'overstated' average profits in the other months is making up for it. With 300 trains etc the average is going to be ok overall.
Good point about the red disguising true loss making vehicles.
