0.3.5 execution error

Post by kzieli01 »

Hi,

on attempting to run openttd 0.3.5 for the first time I recieved the following error

openttd: spritecache.c:362: LoadGrfIndexed: Assertion 'b' failed
Aborting

I have copied over the data directory contents which I was using in 0.3.4

Ubuntu Linux 4.10 (Debian based, 2.6 kerenl)

note that version 0.3.4 works correctly on my system.

You shouldn't have overwritten the data directory. (I did the same mistake, too)
unpack the grf files from 0.3.5 and put them in the data directory. It will paly fine after that.

I deleted the distribution and recompiled.
(i was copiling from source to begin with)
then added only the .grf files from the original
distribution. this seems to have worked.

you should ONLY move/copy the grf files from TTD + sample.cat. If you move files like openttd.grf, you will try to use a version 0.3.4 version of those together with a version 0.3.5 executable. Since it expects the sprites from 0.3.5, it dies when they are not there
