one-way pre-signals

Now maybe i'm just being obtuse, but i'm sure that one-way pre-signals are NOT supposed to make the train take the shortest route (and hence only go to one depot).

Could someone please clarify this point.

One way signals make the train take the shortest route even if this route is not clear. You need to put 2 way signals just before the station to make the trains choose a green signal.
