I have been playing TT for years but yesterday discovered something I had never noticed before;
It is possible to have vehicles trying to pick up cargo
from a station in range of the industry but not even have a rating because
a lot of the cargo is already being transported.
I have attached the save game if this does not make sense.
p.s. I am runnind TTD for windows, with patch 1.8.1
can't get any cargo if too many competitors.

Is it really so strange? Here is how TTD spreads production over stations:
1st station receives all
2nd station receives one-third, leaving two-third for stat.#1
3rd station receives one-sixth, leaving two-sixth for stat.#2 and three-
sixth for stat#1
4th station receives one-twelfth etc.
At a certain point there is no more pie to share

I think I've seen this before. Had a steel-mill that was hotly contested (input and output) between myself and two other companies. Eventually I put in a second train station to take steel out. No matter what I did, I could never get the game to recognize me as a shipper. The station would not list steel in my loads to be picked up there.
I checked to make sure I did not have wood cars attached. I pulled up the station and replaced it. I took up the station, waited until it's grey placement box had faded, and put in a new one in a different place. No matter what I did, I could not get the new station to recognize steel as the out-shipment.
Eventually, I just tossed out the whole idea and went on to other markets. Figured it for a bug.

If you have the money for it, buy exclusif transport rights for a year. That would generate enough coal to your station to start a good transport.
