These have been set up to carry a couple of bags of mail and a couple of passengers.

That could be a bad thing - having them carry a couple bags of mail and a couple passengers. It'll cause a freight station beside a city to suddenly think it is getting mail and passenger service. Suddenly there will be hundreds of people waiting... to ride the caboose!

Perhaps, but the alternative would be far worse IMHO. Better to have them earning their fair share, rather than simply being an ornament on the end of a train.

Hundreds of people waiting to ride a caboose. In my eyes, that would be one extremely successful RR.

Originally, the carboose for Lomo was intended so a train could be pushed. there is a topic about it (by me) in this forum
I heard the stories that they tell of how they labored for this company which sold it's soul to hell

I like the livery scheme of the baywindow in your first pic. I think I'll use that one for the next release as a player caboose.

The Monon Railroad (my fav) had the ultimate - bay window cupola cabooses. I don't think I've heard of any other railroad with those.
