Connect 4-Lane track to big Ro-Ro Station?

Post by Woodchuck2000 »

I've been pulling my hair out trying to optimise this station. It's got a Food Refinery, an Oil Refinery and a Factory next to it, so it's taking in pretty much anything and outputting goods and food. I need to get trains off my line faster as they're snarling up. This probably won't be a problem when I get to maglevs, but I wanna make it work with diesel, dammit...
Any help appreciated.

Yowwwww :shock:
That seems to be very complicated. You'd be better off creating one set of tracks, then merge all the different tracks into the main one.
The first picture is what I use as a RO-RO station.

This picture is an example of merging a set of tracks onto my main one.

I never end up with industries that are that good - i focus on realism as opposed to making Tycoon status - i enjoy myself, but i like to "keep it real"

I reaspect you guys at making those complex ro-ros - if it wasn't for this patch, i'd be back playing transport tycoon original, where i just copied the AI - disasterous!

ARGH!

lol

Happy New Year! Its 9:16pm here in Sydney and i'm counting!

I've been playing with the patch (1.9) for the past couple of weeks - I was simply amazed to discover that people were still playing the game let alone developing add-ons for it!

I've been trying to develop the most efficient station possible and the bottleneck always seems to be getting trains off the tracks. I need to use 2-lane tracks to get sufficient trains to the station but then there are complications as some tracks need bridges to take them over other tracks...

I'm currently optimising a better station, I'll post a pic later on.

Interesting, mr spiff...
Are you using pre-signals there? I can't quite tell due to the resolution...
Here's the new station I've been working on.
Tracks 1&2 (from the left) are primarily for food collections,
Tracks 3&4 are primarily for goods collections.
Track 5 is for any deliveries are are tracks 6&7.
Up to 4 trains can enter the station at the same time and any trains making deliveries can get to any free track in the station. It can handle an awful lot of traffic without breaking down :D

I prefer realism. Stay with rails and TGVs or EuroStars. Long haul networks and as efficient as possible. Hard work. My roro stations are..

=====\=0000000000=\...........Thereabouts.
===\...|=0000000000=|
.......|...|=0000000000=|...........0 - Station
.......|...\=0000000000=|...........= | \ / - Track
.......\============/.......... . - Spacers

This goes in from the top and goes out the bottom. It's an effective one at a coal plant.

Oops!

Realism is boring :wink:
I tend to find design challenges more fun than realism - There's nothing quite as satisfying as seeing a massive station working well.
