Why don't you just TRY it?
How hard can it be???
Open the entire range of ports, try the game and make sure it works.
Close all ports and open only the two.
Try the game again.
If it does not work now, then the entire range is required.

the problem is im 17 so i live with my parents and my dad has a pw on the router, so i have to ask him to do it and he refuses to open that many ports for a game because of some stupid reason, so he wants me to find out first if he has to just open 2 ports he will do it.

Or it could be that Atari hasn't bothered to update their database yet. The message says, "Unfortunately this information is not currently available," not "It's so secret that if I told you, I'd have to kill you."

Oh, and did you happen to check the manual?

Weeelll instead of trying the entire range first, just try the two ports first, THEN if it doesnt work you need the range, and is safer than the other way round. And why do you need the router passworded with a password your not allowed?
There is no ?

Well, I just checked. It says in the manual exactly which ports you need to forward. There you have your answer.

Don't expect anyone to tell you the exact ports here, because the only way you could have "lost" your manual in two weeks is if you illegaly copied the game.

STFU. I cleaned up my desk recently and found 500-page books I'd forgotten I had.

Hi there. The manual says:

If the connection fails, you might need to manually configure your firewall to open the following ports:

-6073
-2032 through 2400

I guess that's all you needed to know. Have fun!

not really......
i mena, i use a laptop mainly and i never carry manuals around, cuz they are a righ tpain and way a ton, also i usually virtual-cd the cd onto the harddrive, so i dont need the cd.
but when you get a new game, you generally refer to the manual A LOT and have it lieing next to the computer, and stuff gets placed ontop of it and......

its happened to me before.....(but i did find the damn thing)

Ne'er said you did. Just highly curious that someone would lose a fairly thick manual in less than a month. Besides, the pdf version of the manual is sitting in the root directory of the Locomotion install. And game also gives a link to it on the start menu.

Ever heard of the simple curtesy of reading the relevant FAQ/manual before asking questions in a forum? The heading "Firewall settings" is even in the table of contents in the manual. And there is a pdf manual on the CD.

You did not only ask about something that was clearly covered in the manual, you also falsely accused Atari of not supporting their customers and keeping information secret when in fact it was right there in the manual.

It is posts like theese that give good things a bad image. And I don't want Locomotion to get a bad image.
But fair enough, I take back what I said about piracy.

Which basically means you did.

I have to agree that it's mighty suspicious, losing the manual.

u mr. are obviosly pc illiterate. all u need to do is......... well maybe............... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................. i'll have to think this one through. .............................................. well when it comes to that there should be a BIG (i mean HUGE) sign saying:
THE PORTS FOR LOCO HOSTING ARE ... ... ... ... ...
some ppl these days have no common sense do they.
({[/\ OF TOPIC\/]}) ONCE THERE WAS A MAN called jim. he was happy and every 5 years visited the same cliff. 1 year there was a crack and he thought it might fall down.(uh oh!!!). when he went back, (5 years later), he found a cave had formed, (wow!!!), so he went and got a boat and looked in it and found..............well nothing. 5 years later the cave had gone, (OH NO!!!!!! I HAD BETTER TELL THE COUNSIL, he said), ... later that day he got a pole stuck it in the ground and hung in the arch from it. (is this boring u?). 5 years later, (AGAIN), there was no arch!!!!, (international arch theives, he thought(, although it was actually his pole from earlier)), there was just a stack,( <--look that up), 5 years later he went back and found........THERE WAS NO STACK!!!!!!!!! (this is near the end!!!), so he had seen how the navy would jump to stacks from the mainland and thought jumping to a stump wuold be the same..............He wanted to see his daughter again,...,but never did, he went OVER the stump landed in the sea and .......(duh dum duuuuuuuuummmm!!!!!!).........DROWNED!!!!! ({[/\ OFF TOPIC \/]})
so what i am saying is that it is important to have a manual.

(hehehehehehe.............NOT!!!!!!!!!!!)

Wait, you don't *have* a manual? You said, "i.... lost it...." when I told you to look in it before. I find it unlikely and improbable, but still possible, that you could/would lose the manual that quickly. However, there is no way at all, short of a packaging error, that you would not get a manual with a copy of the game. Note that I'm not accusing you of pirating the game, just that said circumstances are more than a bit suspicious.

Oh, and Atari probably assumed that you would have read the manual and readme before contacting them.
