Green? What the heck?

B52, I don't want to be too harsh, but you are NOT a very good graphic artist. Now I admit you show admirable persistence, and one of your locos wasn't too bad. It's not a hopeless task for you to learn, you clearly have at least a bit of talent. But you'll never get to the point of drawing anything useable, if you are constantly flitting around from one thing to the next, never finishing anything.

You need to take the advice given in the US forum: Pick one EASY thing, such as a boxcar or a simple diesel loco (not the switcher) and keep working on it until you get it right.

The Zeppelin has proven too much for some very experienced artists, you're not likely to succeed where they haven't. You have much to learn. And you can do it, but only if you're more methodical and disciplined.

What good would it to only to read the first few pages of a book, and never finish it?

Actually, you did a pretty good job with the shading!

Two points:

1. Zeppelins aren't shaped like a real cigar, they are more round throughout like a cartoon cigar. There shouldn't be the straight flat edges at top and bottom.

2. I know you are using the right sized sprite for a normal airplane. The Zeppelin has to be bigger than the sprite by a good bit. Real Zeppelins are ENORMOUS, like, the size of an ocean liner.

Image

Of course we won't do it THAT big, or anything like. But you get the idea, and most particularly, you can see the shape.

3. As with all TTD vehicles, you aren't looking at it directly from the side, but from above. So the angles of the fins have to be adjusted accordingly.

4. Passenger zeppelins don't have gondolas like you drew. They have small control cabins, but as you can see in the picture, they are SO small that at TTD scale they'd be 1 pixel big, if that. All the carrying capacity was inside the frame where you can't see it.

I tried to draw the zeppelin.
It was too frickin hard, all the detail needed.....
Scary.

And i'm currently out of the graphics business because I have too many things on my hands. (school, band, coding a Tribes mod...)

Good luck with the zeppelin, young padawan. [/stupidreference]

krtaylor: Chinook won't be included yet, I'll have to experiment with it some time in near future.

b52: That blimp doesn't look like a blimp. Try to do something... perhaps you should have a look at TTD sprite #3905.

krtaylor, btw.: as far as I've understood, there was a problem drawing the blimp from the TTD original "Zeppelin still intact" crash sprite (#3905) but for me it looks just good sprite to start with. What was the problem? I'm not even going to think about drawing it with this sad excuse of laptop but for those trying I'd see that sprite as a good reference.

krtaylor, is it OK or not for people to use the #3905 Zeppelin sprite as a drawing reference?

Perhaps I missed previous notes, but what does this file do for the game overall? What patch version should be used with this file?

I'll give these files a run relatively soon and note any issues.

Thanks in advance,

Let's clarify this: The separate DC-6 bughunt file is NOT to be used with the latest patch!

It's an example how a (possible) bug appears in TTDPatch. With cargo load rate adjustment or/and decay rate adjustment enabled in code, the DC-6 has a specific jetplane sound, regardless of takeoff sound selected in code, which is undesirable. I've done it for TTDPatch programmers to check whether there's a bug in TTDPatch or there's something wrong in my Planeset code.

Patchman, please investigate.

http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=4362&start=440 - from older messages I found that Raven once had made good progress with the airship. Maybe someone'd like to continue his work?

^bump^

krtaylor:

1. There are questions to be answered, see above.
2. Update the graphics page status.

others:

Do something to that Zeppelin...

Btw. Does someone want to try coding that Chinook, maybe on a single file without other planes? I don't have any idea how the multiprop sprites can be enabled.

I decided to make a remix build of latest beta version with some added field-filler planes. Hopefully this build will attract some outside attention so that we'll get all those advanced planes ready sometime. Check it out if you are interested.

AND ()#"¤/)"(#¤/")(#¤/)(#(")¤"#¤ DO SOMETHING!!!

24/SEP UPDATE: More than enough bugs and glitches found. I crammed that remix too quickly into one piece.

Do you have knowledge for sites we could put the Remix for download to get most attention? I put the 14/Sep BETA to ttdgraphics.cjb.net while this board was malfunctioning, maybe I replace it with the Remix. Any ideas?

I have been ill and will be very busy for the next few months, which means that I will be unlikely to finish the shorts 330. Does anyone want me to upload the work in progress so that someone else can finish it?

I just noticed this thread was active again after the forum problems.

What do I need to update on my site?

What's broken that needs fixing?

I suggest you post the Patch-bug proof to the alpha thread, with a description of the problem.
