new Modern-ish station graphics..

Post by Quicksilver »

I've just been tinkering with the default station graphics from TTD, and made a new modernish style station which acts as a waypoint station and a new main station in OTTD and TTD (Windows only)..

Here's a pic (the roof isn't supposed to be like that, it's not supposed to have a roof yet....)

When I get onto my computer, I'll try to get rest of the station built up..

What do you guys reckon though? For a first attempt, anyway...

they looks rather similar to Locomotion platforms.

Save with a .png file next time, its more internet friendly.

Good editing to ttd size and standard though.

never actually played Locomotion so I wouldn't know if they looked similar.

Plus I only did the picture very quickly as I'm not actually on the correct computer at the moment....

I think it looks quite good. You could add some texture to the tiles on the platform, though, it looks too clean afaic.

Maybe we could replace the monorail/maglev stations with something like this? What do the devs think?
Yeah, yo momma dresses you funny and you need a mouse to delete files.

I like that now there's only one sign per platform (now theres one on every tile), but in general I think it does not really have enough "personality", if you know what I mean. If you imagine it without that roof it is just a clean one-color platform without anything that indicates it is a station. maybe a station building wouldn't be too bad... or people on the platform.

Anyway, how about a possibility to add a station building on an extra tile next to the platforms?

I think the single platform stations are good but as you say the ones that have a roof need something extra. For a start I think bridges would look good (or subways, or both) so passengers can get from one side of the station to the other.

To improve the single platform stations I think the ends should slope down to provide a track crossing, and maybe the building could be of a more realistic size.

Ah a much better version!

But could you do one more thing.. those yellow lines.. they are just too bright.. maybe you could darken them a bit. Otherwise they stand out too much

this version really looks great I think, but as said before, those lines stand out a bit too much. And also, the whole thing looks a bit... well, gray. Do you think it would be possible to lighten the whole thing up a bit?

platforms are too dark now, look like tarmac. Platforms are usually concrete like the first one

It looks ok but I don't really think it looks (Open)TTDish enough. I think you need to use a few more colours so it looks textured.

It looks a bit bland IMHO.
Sometimes the same is different, but mostly, it's the same.
