Can someone help an old timer?

Post by Leigh »

Well well well. I didn't expect to find a site like this. :o

I used to play ttdlx (DOS version on win 95) when it 1st came out. I used to lose months of my life at a time building away, and then I got windows 98. As you can imagine I've been fiddling away over the years, trying to get it working again without success. I wish I'd have thought to look for a forum!!! lol

Now, a very good friend of mine has given me an old lap top...... and guess what... it works!!! :D Obviously I'm chuffed to bits.... but.

Now here's the problem.

I want to play Treasure Island. I can remember that there's only one point you can build a bridge, and I can remember that it's near to Cuiad Bolivar (sorry, I know it's spelt wrong). But can I find the point??? No!! :?

Please please help. I'm getting really frustrated, and my toys are well and truly OUT of the playpen!!

Thanks

Leigh (Desperate to Play)

P.S. Ooops, I've just read the important bit at the top (you know, the one you're supposed to read 1st!!). No, I have to confess, I didn't search the site for answers etc. Sorry. I will next time.

Also, I've had a peek at some other posts, and seen that some people have been told off for "the way they've posted their posts". I'm not really sure why, so just incase I've offended anyone, please tell me. It's not intentional, it's just that I'm not a big internet user, and I don't know the protocal.

Your post is OK for me. :D
It's just that sometimes one gets annoyed to answer the same questions over and over again.

But I did a search with Google for treasure island and Transport Tycoon scenario
and I found this site : http://satyap.csoft.net/satyap/trt.html
and this zip-file: Treasure Island
Hope that's the scenario you were looking for. :P

Thanks for your reply.

I do already have the scenario though. It was part of the standard pack I got, back in 95.

There's an island full of diamond mines, and another island which is a ring surrounding the first, which is full of towns with banks. The only way to survive, is to build a brigde from one to the other, as thses are the only industries.

there is only one place the bridge can be built though, and I can't find it. To be fair I haven't played it since around 1999.

Ah I misunderstood you, sorry about that.
I checked this zip-file , it turns out to be a savedgame instead of a scenario.
In this savedgame there are lots of bridges made by raising some land in the sea.
But that's rather expensive.
With the patch however you can still build many bridges because of the longbridges switch wich allows you to build really long bridges.
You can also build bridges on slopes with the buildonslopes switch.
This way it's really easy to connect the two islands. :D

This bridge I just build in the savedgame in the zip-file, and I only used the buildonslopes feature to do it.

Don't worry guys..... the answer came in the picture......... I needed to build an island for the bridge to touch down on half way accross.... Of course!! :D

Now I'm like a pig in poo!! I couldn't be happier.... Unfortunately my boyfriend is rather regretting giving me the old laptop, and is threatening to confiscate it already. :?

Thanks for your help.

If you have build while paused you can save 60,000 euros. BUild a 6x4 square of ship depots. Pause, delete them and then there should be ground where it was. Build up your area on that for normal prices and build your birdges before unpausing.
