How to control multiple train tracks via the (pre) signals??
I'm bulding a world-wide railroad track..transfering Coal mostly, so I wanna connect several tracks into 1 single track that goes to the Power station..I know how to use signals (Red/green light) but I don't know how do the PreSignals work...cause using only signals when connecting one track to another in this fashion my trains get mixed up and eventually get lost..go to the wrong track..cause both of them have several trains...

I don't quite get your question, so instead I'll refer you to the TTDPatch manual, which explains the presignals. A OTTD page explaining the same is being worked on, but presignals work the same way in OTTD as in TTDPatch.

control click with the signal tool on a built signal... it will cycle through
normal -> presignal (yellow) -> presignal exit (white) -> normal
The simplest setup would be this :
==== <pre> === <exit> ====
When all the exit signals are red (in this case just 1), it will make the presignal(s) turn red as well.

Siggy not gonna work unless someone allows javascripting...

this is all very helpful 4 my other problems but actually I wanted to connect at least 2 tracks (at least!) into 1 main track that goes to the final destination...but my trains always got lost..
anyway, in the meantime I found out that it's not about signals but checkpoints (non-stop orders)... so I got the answer 2 my question..
anyway, thanks..

Oh, OTTD doesn't have auto presignals?}T{Reme [Q_G] wrote:control click with the signal tool on a built signal... it will cycle through

There I was thinking it didn't have presigs at all, but now I know it's just one of those "stupid hidden features"

except it's not hidden.
it does require you to read some stuff before playing yes, perhaps that satisfies "hidden" ...

What's wrong with combo signals? Some of your posts don't make too much sense. Would be nice if you could explain a lttle more.BobXP wrote:and... no combo signals? what are you people on?

except that it's not hidden, and it isn't the feature that's stupid

He forgot combo signals in that line, so I thought there were none.control click with the signal tool on a built signal... it will cycle through
normal -> presignal (yellow) -> presignal exit (white) -> normal

But I'm happy that there are. The only problem I have is that they aren't automatically converted like in TTDPatch!
Can somebody maybe put up a save with a good example for pre-signals and especially COMBO signals?? I understand in theory how they work but I'm having diggiculties implementing them efficently:)... so a HUGE and complicated example would be very helpuf..so If you have any track which you're very proud of-let's see it

I'd like to see a sample saved games with pre-signals in use, giving different examples of how to correctly use them, I'm using them be it incorrectly I think though it all still works strangely enough, putting the yellow and white pre-signal bits before the station itself just outside the crossing sections so trains can enter any free platform.
i'll do it for you, i use the 0.3.3Kjata wrote:I'd like to see a sample saved games with pre-signals in use, giving different examples of how to correctly use them, I'm using them be it incorrectly I think though it all still works strangely enough, putting the yellow and white pre-signal bits before the station itself just outside the crossing sections so trains can enter any free platform.
Thanks. It'd be very useful for many people I feel as it can be a confusing topic until you learn how it functions correctly, been reading into them A LOT but examples of them in use are always easier to understand.Wolf01 wrote:i'll do it for you, i use the 0.3.3Kjata wrote:I'd like to see a sample saved games with pre-signals in use, giving different examples of how to correctly use them, I'm using them be it incorrectly I think though it all still works strangely enough, putting the yellow and white pre-signal bits before the station itself just outside the crossing sections so trains can enter any free platform.
here is, the stations are tiny but you can understand the mechanism, if you don't understand something feel free to ask

Thanks, it's very kind of you to put in the time and effort to help others out.Wolf01 wrote:here is, the stations are tiny but you can understand the mechanism, if you don't understand something feel free to ask
I'm starting to get the idea a bit more now as it was mainly combo signal that were throwing me off, but I can see that I was using the signals correctly when I was using them although not really using them to their full potential. I really need to start using Roro stations more as I end up with trains coming and going from the same side causing delays for trains waiting.
thanks man, that really IS very nice of you..to put up a save..cause just like Kjata said-I've seen many pictures too but a real example would be the best.
And Kjata, what are Roro stations?? judging from the context I'm guessing it's a station with one side 4 entrance and the other 4 exit. been using only one side 4 both till now and can't really complain..everything works if I do it right..but I see how "Roro" could be better in some situations...
