@krtaylor:
i still not like my CRJ100 tweaked by RPharazon. the winglets are not clearly recognizable and look more like sharp wing edges, they are also much to big and are not in company color as wanted by me. therefore i improved my own sprites to make the winglets more visible:

BAe146, act 3. Making the trailing edge sweep is very difficult since there isn't too much of it in real world. If there's still something to fix, say.
I think I'll proceed with the DH Dash 8. I've found an official three-view of it already

I like the Bae 146.
The Dash 8 looks very similar to the Shorts 330, maybe you could do both of them at the same time from the same base sprites.

I've done the first version of the Dash 8. It wasn't actually that painful to do it since I got some practice with BAe146. It still might be in need of all that evaluation and slight reshaping as did the BAe146. When we get this into right shape, I'll proceed with Shorts.

OK, here's my analysis of the Dash 8.
Really, I think this one came out very well the first try. I only have comments on sprites 1 and 5, and that is the same comment - the ends of the wings appear to curve forward, which is wrong. If they have any curving, it would be the other way.
Otherwise, this is fine, so you can polish it off and get to the Shorts!

Slightly fixed that Dash 8. I'll try to do the Shorts when I have the time. Of wing curving, according to the three-view if there's any it's in the forward edge.

Of regional turboprops: I can't see why there isn't Fokker/Fairchild F-27 (and it's successors) included as the representer of Fokker airplanes (there are none in the set), there were almost 1000 of them delivered between 1958-1997. It would be easy to do from the Dash 8 sprite.
Maybe it should be used to replace the Boeing V-22 Osprey since it might be too difficult to implement in the set and it's still a military aircraft which raises questions about it's cost-effectiveness in the game.
Of service entry months: Should we try to find service entry months for airplanes in addition to service entry years? In the game the new vehicles appear at beginning of month. Can the month be coded in the GRF?

I'm not a big fan of turboprops, and I don't think there's any really good operational niche that the Fokker would fill, that we don't already have covered. It's a shame to have no Fokker, but you can't have everything.
As far as the Osprey, certainly it will be a pain to draw and to do, but I know exactly how it will work and I've confirmed that the Patch can handle it. I know it's a military aircraft, but the Japanese are planning to build a commercial intercity version, and that's what we are going to model. It'll be cool. It might come last of all though.
You can't code service entry months. You can't even control the years exactly, because TTD randomizes the vehicle entry times around the specified year, I think it can be up to 3 years before the stated year. I think the randomizing is a good thing, and anyway there isn't any way to change it.

Well, who did the coding for the original two?

Dinges, if I'm not mistaken.

Dinges doesn't seem to be around much anymore. I don't imagine that he has time to code. Of course, if I'm wrong that'd be great.
Volunteers anyone?

zero1000, please leave some documentation behind then. Maybe there's a chance that somebody will try to learn something if no other coders come around...

i proudly present: Zero1000's Plane Set, 1.0 beta.
this set adds following planes (in temperate, acrtic and subtropic):
* Lockheed L-049 Constellation
* Saab 2000
* Bombardier CRJ100
* Airbus A380
* Boeing 747-100 (no new graphics)
the specifications of the planes follow krtaylors technical list, as far as provided there. missing stats i tried to set matching to the existing TTD planes. pictures of the planes you can find in this thread some pages above. the set is compatible to Dinges' plane set. so it's possible to use also the 747-400 and the Concorde made by Dinges.
this is a beta test version, so pls. report any bugs here, if you found some. the grf file is only for WINDOWS, and i will not create a DOS version, because i don't know how.
i specifically authorise anybody to use my plane set (grf file) as a basis for other small plane sets or the large final plane set this topic is about. but i want to get some credits in this case.
while coding this set i got some experiences with plane coding, so anybody can feel free to ask me questions about that. but i'm still not an expert in grf coding.

Wow, congratulations, and nice work. I may just have to start using planes now
. Thankyou for taking the time to try a beta-test set

Good work!
I think the next step would be to include Dinges' two planes so there's only one planeset file, and then to include the rest that are drawn, as we go along.
I'll test these, although for some reason I'm having som GRF conflicts with the planes.
