Alpha 30 Articulated Engines crash

If you buy an articulated/multihead train in a30, and then sell the second head before selling the first head, or you re-arrange the trains so the second head is no longer part of the same train as the first head, and then sell the first head, you'll get a crash (a30DOS). Will check a30Win when I get back to my XP machine.
If you buy a second head before selling the first head, and arrange them on the same train, all will work fine.

Crashlogs and configs on request, but I doubt they're necessary, other than:

You shouldn't be able to sell the second head of an articulated train on its own. Do you mean "normal" dual-headed trains?

Yeap, just tried it too. It happens with normal double head locomotives. I tried with VT-08 of the DBSetXL. Here is the crashlog, I hope it helps.
