Actually... he would be getting something extra. Secondary industries cannot create more than ~27500 / month, at least under TTDPatch, and this limitation has been confirmed in a older OTTD version as well.Purno wrote:That's correct. Re: Industries and capacities...
That's actually very easy - if doing it properly! Once I've decided how I want an industrial area to look like, that is; what industries should be included and in which direction do I plan to have my future station placed, I simply start out designing it.Nilo wrote:SAC Question: How do you place the forest and the ore mines ect. so nice on a row and so close together. I tried But i could not get it together.
I usually use rocks to visualize the actual station area. It's one good way to mark the terrain, but I'm sure there are others as well. Now, lets say I want to have a row a forests. There are two different sizes, (not sure if the size of an industry/production facility have an impact), one that is 4x5 and one that is 5x5, (if I'm not mistaken). With this in mind I know how much terrain one forest will require and I can use road tiles to ensure that the forest is built exactly where I want it;
FFFFFB
FFFFFB
FFFFFB
FFFFFB
RFFFRB
F= Forest Production
R= Road tile
B= Bridge
I place the cursor, (building a forest), on the spot above that's marked with a bold F. I've also placed a bridge - but more road tiles are okey too - on the side to ensure that the forest won't be built on the tiles nearby. Then I click and place it!
Once the first one is built I simply continue with the next. If I get the 4x5 forest I continue to click on the same spot until the 5x5 appears. The same clicks are required if placing an industry and you want it to have a specific color! Needless to say this task should be performed in scenario editing mode.
Anyway, I basically use the same method to place other industries as well. I always want to have my industries bundled and located in certain areas rather than everywhere on the map!

I hope this helps!

Just use Owen's Transport Tycoon Saved Game Manager 2.2

Thanks! With a better search - or if searching at all - I would probably have found it out myselfRob wrote:Just use Owen's Transport Tycoon Saved Game Manager 2.2

Anyway, the latest game I've been playing - a scenario I've made myself - which have been illustrated in this topic, was basically created before I had the knowledge of how to use raw material producing industries/facilities contra processing industries/facilities. With this new knowledge in mind I would have used a different layout for this particular scenario. I will therefor create a new one!
If anyone should be interested I've attached the latest "Saved Game of this scenario" which can be downloaded below. Not sure if this is important though, but I do use some TTDAlter changes;
#1 Longer bridges
#2 The same speed for everyone of them
I also use Saskia's, (I think its his), stations;
I've also disabled Euro from being introduced since I'm from Sweden - and we did say NO to the Euro for the time being

There are a little more than 100 trains operating, passenger- as well as freight trains. Buses are operating in some cities. I use Volvo5000 short version for local buses and Volvo5000 articulated for feeder services, (cities to international airports).
A few airlines operates as well as some ship routes.
Keep in mind that a first sight at this scenario may be confusing, but every complicated layout, (rail lines, stations and so on), have a purpose as far as my intentions concerns

I haven't allowed the AI to start up yet - for those who needs to know about that!
The saved game can be downloaded here;
TRP00 - LinX Europa
I'd appreciate inputs from people who've downloaded this scenario as a help when making new scenarios!

Nilo, change morevehicles switch in ttdpatch.cfg ... 5 or 7 should be enough (10 was the value the game was saved with)
as for the game I am impressed to ... it is totally other point of view for TTD game and train network ...
btw. is it possible toget scenario/map befoer you start your company?

what are you looking at? it's a signature!
Thanks!Nilo wrote:Wowa Your save game looks inpressive. It's verry realistic( The highway is verry nice) Unfortunately there where vehicles deleted at the start (The patch:D) and your network of rails is huge.

A verry nice game.
O i managed to create industriel areas now, Thanks

Since you're missing some vehicles I should probably add what files I'm using as well - apart from the changes that comes with the TTDPatch and TTDAlter;
ELRAILSW.GRF
SIGNALSW.GRF
NEWSTATSW.GRF
LONGVEHICLESW.GRF
PNS.GRF
STACJAW.GRF
FOUNTAINW.GRF
RIMM-BUILDINGW.GRF
WAREHOUSEW.GRF
CANALSW.GRF
CARGOSETW.GRF
LONGBUSESW.GRF 2
NEWSHIPSW.GRF
SCANIATRUCKSW.GRF
DBSETXLW.GRF 6
GSTONE-TEMP_WIN-VER1.GRF
Please note that "LONGBUSESW.GRF" have a parameter set to "2". Using this along with "LONGVEHICLESW.GRF" makes it possible to use both the Volvo5000 short and long version!
I also use parameter 6 for the "DBSETXLW.GRF" for random livery!
Apart from this I'm also using some .exe-files, all of them basically refering, (is it one or two "r" in referring), to custom buildings, industries, docks, and so on!
Thanks! Yes, I could try to make that a .zip-file as well! However, keep in mind that due to all the changes I've done during game-play, you'll find that the initial layout of the scenario looks - although similar - but very different!SHADOW-XIII wrote:...as for the game I am impressed to ... it is totally other point of view for TTD game and train network ...

I Think rebuild this network wil be verry difficult. SAC said in the beginning of this topic that when he creates his scenario he plans the railnetwork ahead. so without The Plan of SAC it would be difficult to create the same network. But When you have the zip i really want to try:D:D:D:D:Dbtw. is it possible toget scenario/map befoer you start your company?
Well, I find my own scenarios a bit complicated to start up with, (trying to remember all the routes I had in mind when doing the layout), but looking at such a scenario ready to be played and compare it to the game several years later when I've made numerous changes to it, is a huge difference!
I'm not sure how others progress with their games and their networks, but mine tends to be somewhat confusing from time to time. I try to use different train engines, (freight trains), to better get a grip and recognize cargo stations, (that is; a certain trains loading area). If you look closer at the saved scenario I've provided, you can tell I've made several changes to my industrial areas after the knowledge about how industries works. As a result thereof some loading stations have a mix of different engines after being transferred from a closed station/industrial area to a new or modified one.
Goods trains, which basically can be located from the "Hallsberg Rangerbangård" north of Vasa are the only freight trains that uses a single engine. All the others have two. Another thing I noticed, (which kind of "adds" yet another train engines to the DBXL-set), is that some engines tend to get very close to each other if placing them in a certain way for multiple engines, thus making them look as one engine only. A good example are those trains that delivers goods to "Hallsberg Rangerbangårds" two lowest platforms, (the ones with roofs). They're all the same. A similar solution has been added to some of the trains using the blue and white livery train engines
Anyway, I'm working on a new scenario with the same basic layout; pre-planned routes, where I intend to focus on fewer but certainly larger industrial areas. I wouldn't mind if anyone would like to play that from scratch when I'm starting playing it myself. Could be cool to compare the differences after a couple of years
Anyone interested?

ME ME ME ME ME
I really want to play one
only i dont know mutch about freight trains and passenger trains
maybe you could make it a contest. and with a set of rules
No cheats for money and time changing
Trains must be as long as the longest platform (with alpha patch 14 long stations)
And set the end year
so we can see who created the best company/network
Because your scenarios enters a new option it's more realistic. (buts thats my opinion
But as i said before i want to play it.

Well, to be honest - if this were to happen - I don't think it'll need any restrictions at all. Even though I pre-plan a lot when I create my scenarios, I still end up doing lots and lots of changes during game-play, and this alone develops into a completely different layout compared to the initial one.Nilo wrote:ME ME ME ME ME

I'm trying to adapt your strategy for placing industries, but it's not quite working. I habe the patch installed and I can place many industries, but I can't place them next to each other. If i want to place to industries right next to each other, it automatically demolishes one of the industries and rebuilds it under my cursor. How can I force the computer to always build new industries and not just move the ones that are alreayd build! Thank you for the help!
The important thing is to place the industries in the right order - meaning; always start with the one on top first so that the next one can be placed next the other in line, or more specifically; from NorthEast/NortWest to SouthEast or SouthWest.
The other thing is to make sure that any industry is placed exactly where you want them. A good help is that each industry have their own specific layout - and not necessarily rectangular shaped. With this in mind I either place a road piece or a bridge piece on the tiles where I know that the new industry won't be using at all. I continue this procedure after I placed the first industry to ensure that the ones coming next to the first one doesn't demolish any previous industries placed in the line.
Paper mills and Printing works on the other hand may only be placed within the game - which is really handy since both of them will be placed exactly where you point them to. Both of them shows a 4x4 grid tile size, but uses only a 3x4 size - which can be handy to remember if the actual spot intended for a new paper mill or printing work seem to be to small.
I hope this somewhat explains the way I use to build up my centralized industries
