Question

Post by MT3269 »

How long til we see the existing ttdpatch features implemented into openttd?

Couldn't the devs focus on at least mirroring the ttdpatch game (along the new features) before focusing on more complex improvements?

*cough* I think they should focus on more complex things, because they affect minor things (features?). Would You like to rewrite features each time a new "complex" thing is implemented?

We are adding features new, and TTDPatch ones that we think are important at the moment and can feel we are able to add in a reasoneable time.

The most important feature that OTTD is missing from is support for NFO files like DBSet, NewStations, etc. There is some initial support for the simpler sets, but it's not done.

Anyone who would like to add such features is of course welcome to do so :)

Openttd is apparently a clone of ttd ,so why can't it be?

It's missing two of the best features ,electrified railways and new vehicles!

If I knew how to compile this stuff i'd happily do it myself!

Well learn! There is plenty of stuff on the net and it isn't as hard as it sounds.

$./configure
$make
$sudo make install

And the last step often isn't necessary on a single user system.

With OpenTTD you currently just need to run make on Linux. :D
