It seems that diesel locomotives in TTD give off more smoke when they're working harder, as accelerating from a stop or going up a hill. This makes good sense.
However, they seem to get confused when they are on a speed-limited bridge. They know they're supposed to go faster, and they're trying to, but it won't let them. So they give off clouds of unnecessary smoke, and the speed limit in the status window fluctuates wildly as the bridge-speed-limit code keeps knocking them down to size.
This isn't a big deal, really, but I might as well mention it.
