I think it is a good solutionProf. Frink wrote:Maybe # for ignored graphics and ; for actual commentsPatchman wrote:It seems to me that what you really want is a way to add entries to newgrf(w).cfg, but set these entries to "off" by default. I'll have to think of a way to allow that specifically...
Or show all the .GRFs in the newgrf directory in the window, with only those in the cfg activated by default.

I think it's best to leave # meaning a real comment, just because that's the standard in the industry. You could use * to indicate a GRF file that should be included, but deactivated in a new game by default.

The problem with this is that all .grf files get loaded and parsed when the game starts. For .grf files that are in the directory you'd waste an awful lot of memory, especially for people like me who have the DOS and Windows version in the same directory...Prof. Frink wrote:Or show all the .GRFs in the newgrf directory in the window, with only those in the cfg activated by default.
I think I'd prefer something like
Code: Select all
newgrf/active.grf
newgrf/inactive.grf -
I think putting something before, like an asterisk, is better, but a dash afterwards would work too. It's even compatible with the Configurator, you can type the dash in the "parameters" window.

Seems sensible to me. This'll be in the next Patch rev? Say, what else will be in the next rev? There hasn't been one for a while, other than the bugfix.
