RVs won't autorenew

Post by krtaylor »

My road vehicles won't auto-renew.

I have the auto-renew parameter set to 0 (renew on age limit), and the forceautorenew setting is on also. But the trucks just keep going and going, getting older and older, and they don't get replaced even when they go to a depot.

The route-finding seems messed up too, they often can't find a depot they're sitting right in front of, which is really stupid and annoying. Don't know if it's related though.

I am NOT using the new default service interval.

I did, however, change the settings in the course of playing a game. Could that have caused it to get confused? Of course, I save and restart the game when I diddle the settings.

I think that your vehicles were already passed the age limit and game simply don't care of them

The same happen to me when i setted that seting to 3 months before age limit all my vehicles were already passed the limit and weren't autorenewed
I had to replace 145 road vehicles manualy :x

No, I replaced them manually, and then when those wore out, they still didn't autoreplace.

Either that's the reason, or their model is no longer available for sale (or soon won't be). If it's that they can't find a depot, put a 'go to depot" order in their schedule and they'll find it.

The model is still available.

Not all my RVs have depots in their orders, but some do, and even those don't replace themselves.

How old is the model? If it's within five years of being obsolete, it won't be used for replacements.

What year is it?

This bug has been reported a few times already, but I've never been able to figure out why it happens and what causes it.

The model is fairly old, 1976, but it's the most recent one. I don't know when it goes "obsolete."

I could send you the game and stats if it would help.

Feel free to send the save, although I don't know when I'll have time to look at it. Things are pretty busy at the moment with little chance of getting better any time soon...

Nothing, just time ticked along. I think I may have the answer though.

You said something I didn't know - that you won't get your vehicles auto-replaced if they become obsolete in 5 years or less. My suspicion is either that they go obsolete rather early (I don't know when they technically do), or that it's actually not 5 years but rather 10 or something. Because, I was playing in the Tropics, where the early Long Vehicles are useless. Note that, as far as I know, the long trucks don't go obsolete. And, once I started using them, they didn't have any troubles with getting replaced. Also, some of the later default vehicles I think last longer, and they auto-replaced themselves OK too. Do you know how long the early default Tropic trucks are valid for?

All of the first and second generation trucks have a model life of 55 years, and the third generation lasts 85 years. So unless that got changed by TTDAlter or some graphics set, I doubt it's the cause for your problem.

So, that makes me wonder again, maybe the limit isn't 5 years, it's 15 by mistake?
