Map updates automatic

Post by lucaspiller »

One of the problems I have in both TTD and OpenTTD is that when trying to find new industries the map does not move so that it shows a map of the current area.

Can you please update it so it does?

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

You can scroll in the minimap with having the right mouse button pressed.

I mean when you scroll the main map the mini map doesn't update to show your current location if you move off the edge of its screen.

For example if I have a new map I often have a look around to see what industries there are. Rather than looking in the big map I just set the mini map to show different colours for each industry. If I scroll to an area of the mini map I have to map it big then small for it to update to my current location.

Would be very confusing if the minimap moved around by itself. Then I couldn't watch a region on the minimap anymore, without screwing it up each time I scroll in the main screen.

Hmmm, I see what you mean. Maybe it could be set to either follow the real map or stay where it is.

I think having a "lock to main window" sort of button on the mini-map (say the 8th un-used button space) could prove useful.
When set to on, it just follows the main map around as suggested. Would prove a boon for subsidy finding (if anyone ever uses those things).

I understand what lucaspiller means, I've noticed it myself.

if you have the map open, and click on a subsidy from the menu, the main view scrolls to the new position, but the viewmarker on the map (that shows you where the main view is) is not updated. this way you don't know where the subsidy actually is. To update you can change the map to large / small, but then you lost your previous scrolling position.

all that's needed to fix this is to update the map if the viewport is scrolled to somewhere.
