What are your competitors like?
they are really dumb,
till today i still dont uderstand the way they lay down there tracks,
I give them most of the time AI boost 1
intelligent and medium contruction speed,
i buy 75% of there shares, so i can delete parts of the tracks, if i need that ground, or that city

NS Trains for patched TTDX -- Fears no Evil ---- Get A Real Life
i see sometimes good incomes for the IA players,way_2_fun wrote:In real life, I would never work for them (the computer) if they were that dumb.....it's soooo sad
They've never made over $10mil in the whole game since I've started playing.....
so sometimes they will reach the 10m$

The best income on one of their trains was $30 000, and that was a subsidy. And on double check, $12mil was their best total, in 2010! They don't pay off their loan until about 1990, and their loan interest in taking away half their profit, not to mention they never replace their vehciles, they are about 50years over maximum....

If what Chris said is true, then why not have the AI BUY up the land it decides its going to build on. After all, thats what REAL railraods do. What, d'ja think they just start laying track, working in the right direction? They got the land bought well before the spikes go in.
It would be far better if you would see a line of sold signs go in, and THEN the tracks start to creep.
COMPUTER AI SETTINGS: Just so you know, this DOES impact the game. It dosn't make them do anything smarter. What it does do is boost their ratings in competition. If you want to see this for yourself, play a game. As soon as the computer puts in a route, build the same thing as close to him as you can. Use the same vehicals. Start running cargos. Click on the stations and bring up both ratings and watch.
At Easy: He's pretty much on par with you, which means that better vehical types and more vehicals will win.
At Medium and Hard: He gets a good point advantage over you, so much that its hard to even compete. I've had trucks beat my darn trains on hard.
You can test this in the above example by changing the value of the setting (you can do that with player options while the game is running) and watch the ratings change.
Personally, I go with easy. I like the competition, and I hate getting chased out of markets I should own with better service.

What about yours?
Starting time: 9 months
Construction speed: very slow (otherwise they're too fast to sabotage if necessary)
Intelligence: High (that's what TTDX says, not my opinion).
