end-line blocks
like the real stations with dead tracks
it's possible to change the checkpoint graphic like ttdpatch?
and a station type (which it's used for nothing) with some wagons without an engine?

What for ? (I didn't understood)Wolf01 wrote: and a station type (which it's used for nothing) with some wagons without an engine?
Both suggestions are rather useless.
The graphics changing will be done once newgrf is implemented
(I think :/ )
You can add multiple attachments per post, btw...

Id like to see a real type of platform and movement system.
eg two tracks between platforms
P=platform
= = track
when the train is loading, the engine detahces, goes to a siding and runs around the train and recouples on the other side, and wiats and then ready to go.
Like real life.
eg two tracks between platforms
P=platform
= = track
Code: Select all

I get the feeling that someone wants something completely different.
Before buffer stops (I even pointed out the term in the other thread - do people not read anymore?;)) can be implemented, the game needs ot know that a given piece of track is the end of the line, which is probably a feature not worth investing the time into. OTOH, while not loco run-arounds, but certainly real reversing (i.e. not flipping the train around) are more promising prospects in that they might actually add something to the game

Not flipping the train is harder to do than you may thinkChrisCF wrote:I get the feeling that someone wants something completely different.

But I like the idea anyway, but the question is: do we really need it? Most of my trains only have one type of cars so I would not notice
Anyway, It would be nice if tank engines starts to reverse instead of flipped. This would be shown even for one freigh type trains

It damaged steamers to run backwards on long journeys, cos some wheels would have to be turned.
It is better to always have the train pulling its load.
Therefore I have new Ideas.
Building a loop option makes my above idea come possible.
Building a loop and a turntabel, turns the trains and it runs round onto the front.

RE: Born Acorn
Born Acorn, this is a game, not real life.
Although, I do have an idea that would not hurt the physics of the game. For those like me who like multi-headed, symetrical trains, you will notice in TTDPatch (yes I know, different system, same principle) that if you have an engine in front and behind the cargo cars that it never looks like it even "flips" instead reverses.
So, simple solution:
Train.Speed *= -1;
Of course there will need to be various checks all over the place for reversing trains and minimum speeds, but I'm sure the dev's understand this.
Just an idea.[/code]

Vintage trains in Denmark never gets turned due to lack of turntables and I have never heard of this problemBorn Acorn wrote:It damaged steamers to run backwards on long journeys, cos some wheels would have to be turned.

Are you sure that you are right?
The problem in going "tender forward" is that it limits vision from the cap, so there are a speed limit of 60 km/h
Another problem is that the tender shakes a little more, which releases coal dust to the air and the wind goes from the tender to the cap. I don't think I need to say more about that problem
In case you don't know, the tenders are build with headlights and are thinner on the top to allow some vision from the cap, in other words, they are build to allow tender forward driving
In fact some of the smaller BR standard type tender locos were specifically designed for running equally well each direction. On the other hand, entire steam era trains being pushed backwards at high speeds would probably not be a good idea, due to the high probablity of buffer locks (I've never worked out how they avoided this on auto-trains.
