Problem with trains waiting in front of a station

Post by General B. »

I've got a problem, which is shown on the screenshots. I connected several towns with rails and it looks like a big circle (like the S-Bahn in Berlin, Germany). That means, that each train goes in the same direction (here to North-West). Some trains get the "Full load"-order and so they need to stay a little while in the station, as happened here, and some trains just shortly stop and then continiue going to the other stations.

The first screenshot shows the situation. One track is blocked by a "Full-load-train" an the other one is free. Now the incoming train from southeast should go to the free track, shortly stop and then he should leave the station.

But then surprisingly the train waits in front of the occupied track until the "Full-load-train" has gone...

Does anybody have a solution for this problem? I just doesn't happen in stations with no further tracks on the end (like Screenshot 3).

By the way: If I build two parallel tracks which can be used only in one direction, only one track is used too, even this one is already used by another train. Then the second train will wait until the first one has gone. The other free track is ignored. :?:

it's the exit signals, replace the single signals by double signals and it will work. The trains will still go the right way, but if you have "trains turn at station" on then they will try to go the other way first, run into the entrance presignal and turn around.

It's weird, you can manually place presignals, but apparently it only works if you put them the same way as the automatic blocks.

I gave it a try and it worked!!! :)

But it weren't the Exit-Signals but the Entrance-Signals which had to be double (see the screenshot).

Anyway - THANKS A LOT, although I have to start a new game, because I deleted the original savegame before I got the idea to ask here ;(

Exit and entrance signals are pre-signal terms. It's the yellow and white flagged signals which are the entrance and exit signals of a presignal block.. just something you would have to know :)

Narf!

Oh I know for sure that the white and yellow-flagged signals are Pre-Signals. But I falsely used the explanations "Exit" and "Entrance", sorry. I just wanted to describe the position of the signals concerning to the tracks' direction / the station and didn't think of the usuable terms. In my mind it was logic, that the white-flagged signals "guard" the entrance of the station and the others the exit.

But at the end my problem is in the problem's graveyard and I was the one who was temporary confused

Thanks again (thanks for the lil' TTDPatch language-lesson, too - I'll try to keep it in mind)

nah, it's just the guy who came up with the term 'exit signal' who's an idiot
Now we got confusion everywhere :P
