Help Needed

I've been playing TTDLX for a while now (DOS Version) and ive just upgraded to XP Home Edition. I have no idea how to install this patch, how to edit cfg files, what a catalogue is etc. If someone could just spell out what to do nice and simply (like download this file, drag it here etc.) it would be greatly appreciated....

I downloaded the patch, unzipped it and placed it in the C:\MPS\TTDLX folder (is this right?). If I open the patch program ttdpatch it tells me to press enter to load, but then it says I have to abort:

'The system cannot open COM4 port requested by the application. Choose close to terminate the application.'

Using TTDX Configuration i open the TTDPATCH.cfg file and try and load the program that way and it says:

'The file C:\MPS\TTDLX\newgrf.cfg is read only and cannot be modified by TTDX Configurator. Remove the read-only property from the file in order to save it.'

Looking in C:\MPS\TTDLX i can't find this requested file.

Any help once again would be greatly appreciated....

You're running the dos version and that won't work on XP
Try downloading the windows version from the link in my signature
Then get the windows patch
