Hi audigex. These look really great, thanks for your time and effort.
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but when I tried to add it in a current game, around 400 existing trains looked greyed out (knackered). I have all of the other GRFs. I do note the warning about deleting existing GRFs, but when I do this, well, it knackers out the existing ones anyway.
Does this mean that I'd have to send all the incompatible ones to depot, move the orders to a train which is compatible, such as Modern UK Train Set, then re-copy everything to the new trains? Or should I just wait until further updates which work with existing GRFs (unlikely, I'm guessing).
I suspect I may be too far into the existing game to start again - well, I just don't fancy starting from scratch as I've spent a almost two years in my current game. However, I do appreciate that you've invested a lot of time and effort, so should I just get on with it?
Thanks for your continued work on this project
Hi Ross
There have been a LOT of changes to the project since the original Version 1 release, which is why it's been released under a separate name and GRF ID. Unfortunately, I don't think it's really possible to upgrade a savegame from the original release to use the new version, as there have been so many changes.
If you do wish to switch to BRSet in a new savegame that you want to play for a long time, I'd actually recommend waiting a little longer... sometime in the next month or so I intend to release a "breaking change" which will mean you won't be able to upgrade between versions of the new set either - this is necessary because there are a few trains which are the wrong length (like the Class 33) and a few other changes that I can make/fix while doing that. If you like, I can reply again to this message to tell you when that's happened? After that new version you should hopefully be able to use the set for pretty much forever, just upgrading to the new version as you go along. I can't guarantee there will never be another breaking change, but with a bit of luck this will be the only one
So my suggestion to you would be to play your current save for another month or two, and then after that maybe start a new game and you should hopefully be able to play that savegame for several more years
Much appreciated, audigex!
You've actually inspired me to do a bit of both now. My current map could be a little bit bigger, to the point where any new IRL stations which are built in the future could mean that there's only as little as three tiles between stations

I actually intend to share the completed map to all who may want this, crediting the graphics' creators, as I'd not have proceeded with this project if it wasn't for these real-life sets. I suspect this should be done before the end of this year.
I'll keep trying your GRF and any existing GRF updates in the months ahead to see if any are workable with my current map. I suspect I'll eventually move onto the new map, where I can see that the majority of the trains work and there’s only a minor warning about “it may look confusing”, which isn’t a problem. The only two trains I couldn’t find on the new map was a London Midland (the skin which look super realistic on the class 350) and SouthEastern Railway (dark blue, with neat carriage detailed colours on the class 375), I believe these belong to a different NewGRF developer.
On the current map, I still have much to do with the intercity services and the east highland route, such as the North Wales route; and a bit more diagramming, where depot space is sufficient.
Ramble: I've completed Greater Anglia (LE), C2C (CC), Mersey (MR), Southeastern (SE), Hull (HT), Chiltern (CH), Grand Central (GC); most of Northern (NR), Southern (SN), ScotRail (SR), Overground (LT) and GWR (GW); some of West Mids and LNWR (LM), TfW (AW), TransPennine (TP), Thameslink (TL), Avanti (VT), CrossCountry (XC) and LNER (GR); none of the new Elizabeth Line (too hard, as I'd probably not be able to fit all the stations into London!), Island line (pff), Gatwick/Heathrow Express (again, easy enough).
So, I'm going to do a full quail map again, but with more space on a 4k (width) x 8k (length) map this time. I'll also share the completed map as a scenario before I proceed on with filling it up with my... "model railway?" (I think that's what this project has evolved into).
I suspect this project will take a year to complete, maybe a little longer depending on how quiet I can make this winter (and next year, at this rate). Filling the map will probably take 2 years to do, depending on whether they have a full time job.
