I know fundraising isn't necessarily permitted on the forums but I should think a couple of years of moderating is payment enough for a one off charity post.
On Saturday, I'm throwing off the shackles of obesity and cycling 54 miles (86km) from London to Brighton.
What's your plan?
I've been cycling to work pretty regularly for nearly a year but this is the first time I will have cycled this far.
London to Brighton is an iconic British route of both cycling and driving. The route takes in the gorgeous (but disgustingly undulating) South Downs. Highlights of the trip include the Ditchling Beacon, a one mile heave up a 1 in 10 gradient, from where a beautiful view of Brighton, the English Channel and 8 miles of down hill cycling can be seen.
86km may not seem a lot to some of you European cycling types but the numerous hills and my general unfitness may conspire to defeat me... So this is a real challenge!
Who are you raising money for?
I'm raising money for Honeypot, a small charity who assist children who are forced to act as carers for sick family members. Their main role is to take children away to one of their retreats for the weekend to give them a chance to discover what childhood should be like.
Alright, I am unwisely believing in your determination to get to the sea. How do I donate?
