A spider is a bot (essentially) that usually is here on behalf of a search engine like google.
It may just be that some spiders are identified and named, and others are not.
Called spiders as they practically just crawl around the web following links and things, like a spider would do on its web.

Nah, what I noticed is that they have different names. I always saw Google with [bot], but this one have the extension [spider], which makes me think its different. The company is a search engine based in the East and have the symbol of paws.
Ah, I just don't know it previously. Thanks !

Ah, as far as I know, google bot and such are spiders, just named bots by the phpBB software. orudge can probably confirm that though.
Re: Wait, what's this web...
That's the reason why I asked because they're unusual... everything like that I ever saw on this forum use the extension [bot] until I saw this one.

Re: Wait, what's this web...
The latest phpBB update changed some of the bots. For whatever reason, it maybe distinguishes between some bots/spiders but not others.
