Cargo Acceptance

Thank you very much for OpenTTD! I enjoy very much playing it!

I have several train stations that go back and forth between accepting and not accepting Goods. Is there a game setting to make them stop going back and forth, or is this part of the game's charm?

A station only accepts goods if there are enough houses nearby that accept goods. Most likely in your situation the town clears some houses, then rebuilds them or similar ones. One thing you can do about this is to build your station closer to the city center.

To clarify, there is no setting in the game that controls this back and forth cargo acceptance for stations. Correct?

You could play with an industry NewGRF where goods aren't delivered to houses; for example FIRS. It has small house-sized industries in towns including stores and petrol pumps which are far more stable targets for delivery.
