Less duplication of what resources? You still need as many drivers, guards, call centre staff, add many trains and as much fuel. I can't see how you can save all that much really. Whilst you save some money on advertising your costs now have to incorporate more radio stations/TV stations/newspapers.

They'll certainly lose trust in you. You don't even have a single ounce of our trust.

Hardly. That wasn't harsh at all in my view. I have no trust in Alan either.
There's a vast difference between being really harsh and being blunt.

Frankly you are being stupid, there is no way you can compare me to Assad, Slobodan Milošević etc
Geo Ghost wrote:Unlike Slobodan Milošević I have not ordered mass murder!
You've ordered violence and going to war with the entire nation of Monaco!

Yeah I'm sure Assad, Saddam and the like also said that, 'as a last resort' if they don't do exactly what the dictators wanted. I don't see any difference whatsoever.

Do you mind not calling Jamie stupid, Alan  He's far more knowledgeable than you and a lot nicer person in general than you are.

... What? How do you function? Seriously? :? What has that got to do with- actually no. You know what, I'm not even going to try and work that out.
Someone else can. I've got things to do.

No I said it as a last resort if they are stupid enough (which I am sure they are not)
It's still going to war over nothing more than a tax dispute. They've not attacked you, they've not funded terrorism against you, they've shown no aggression towards you. They've just refused to comply with your crazy demands.

Ahh, 'The Final Solution'.*

Oh wait, there is never, ever any reason to kill someone. It is utterly stupid and moronic to suggest such a thing because hey, people's lives are more important than f*** money. Who gives a s*** about some tax money if you're going around shooting people down? Wars are only justifiable where the human cost is lower than the alternative, such as WW2* or Libya, where Gaddafi would have basically killed everybody in Benghazi if there had not been intervention.

(*Please note that I won't appreciate any application of Godwin's Law to these points, given that the law was made to protect the use of examples of the Nazis/Hitler in relevant points. People who just mindlessly apply it to everything are usually more stupid than the people who misuse examples of Hitler/Nazis in their points. In this case, where Alan is perpetuating a war against Monaco as a last resort for them not paying some tax bills, I would regard the comparison to the Nazis 'Final Solution', the murder of 6 million Jews and disabled people, a fair one. I would also say that WW2 is a good example of a war which protected human life, as without it Hitler would have continued his systematic murdering).

What he said wasn't wrong at all. I agree with him personally. Though calling him stupid in such a way is uncalled for when he's not been insulting towards you - especially if you said you think he's a good person.

Unfortunately with any service you have to draw the line somewhere and when you can spend the money that it might cost to prolong one persons life by 6 months to inoculate hundreds of children against deadly disease x, I know what I'd chose.
Goes back to the whole thing of there being no infinite pot of money - even if people did all pay the correct amount of tax.

Alan Fry wrote:Sadly money is important in this world, what about the people who have to die due to the fact the NHS cannot afford the drugs that will help them, what about people who cannot afford to pay the bills, what about the fact we are all paying the prices of the actions and mistakes of the wealthy and powerful?
Oh right, so because money is important we should go and kill all the people in Monaco? Great justification...

And it isn't that the NHS can't afford the drugs, they *could* buy them, but the cost outweighs the benefit. As Ameecher said, they could buy some cancer 'busting' drugs which various studies have proved to have little effect but might extend someone's life for a few years, or they could buy another PET scanner to try and diagnose the cancer early. Its all a game of cost-benefit. Expensive drugs which don't have much of an effect is a waste.

I have not even started talking to the state of Monaco, remember this is currently a bargain tool and will only be done as a last resort (and if they are stupid enough!)

Are you prepaired to tell dying cancer suffers that their life is worth a cup of tea each day?
