OpenGFX - Graphics Base Set

Toyland Aircraft
I've been slowly working to make the Toyland Vehicles more like the originals (ie, with faces)
The RV's have been redone into 1CC and have been sent to Planetmaker. I have moved on to the aircraft, and the results are below. I've shamelessly taken from the current OpenGFX planes and modified them to a more toyland appearance. The Juggerplane I'm especially fond of

Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
They smiled so nicely at me that I had to implement them straight away. Toyland RV are next. Here they the planes, part of OpenGFX as of this morning:

Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
I noticed an inconsistency with planes on the runway: on some airport types, planes land on the center of the runway and take off left of center. At airports with 2 runways you see planes land and take off on the left of the center of the runway (as upper image):

Looking very nice, great work!
Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
The current OpenGFX single track station building bothered me for some reason... it looked a bit too narrow. I played around with one of Zephyris' buildings and came up with this.
Use it if you wnat It just looks a bit more "substantial" to me.

Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
Hey, for maybe a addon set (which could be added to the main set maybe later on) hows about a generic passengert station and a generic freight station so we dont have fancy glass roofed freight stations at oil refinaries and steel mills and mines

Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
Makes sense. Although I found using multiple single track stations works too for industries

Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
Yeah, but that's a lot slower for the lazy people (ie me), although I use Industrial Stations anyway...
Hmm, what should I put here...
Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
Yonks ago I think Foo Bar did some work on OpenGFX style stations (right near the start of the OpenGFX project)... It might be worth necroing that thread!

Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
although I never play Toyland I was thinking that Whizzer could have wings similar to bird feather maybe? Something that will make it look different from the non-toyland planes ?
what are you looking at? it's a signature!
Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
Non-swept wings might be nice on the toyland sub-sonic jets.

Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
It's winter, the toyland vehicles seem to have caught a slight running nose, it's so red Or possibly they're already celebrating carnival In other words: new more toy-ish sprites for the toyland road vehicles thanks to DanMacK
The ideas of feathered planes might be interesting.
Yes, I fear that it'll take quite some adjustment to fix this; but I noticed also some not so good offsets when I swapped the plane sprites.Coyote76 wrote:I noticed an inconsistency with planes on the runway: on some airport types, planes land on the center of the runway and take off left of center. Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
Sweet! I am glad to see toyland getting some much needed love
Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
just coded the reworked single station house in:
DankMacK, I had to convert the png to index color palette, are you aware that opengfx graphics are pngs now. It would safe us another work step if the pngs you upload already would be paletted. I assume you do the work with palette anyway...
Anyway, me likes the new station more too.

Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
maybe someone likes to fix the glitches which happen during simple resize I made for the OpenTTD title letters:
I just used the original png and resized, some of you might also see those glitches and post a fixed big title letter png
specially O, T and D
Thanks
Edit: original letters for reference:

Yes, a little...Zephyris wrote:Yonks ago I think Foo Bar did some work on OpenGFX style stations (right near the start of the OpenGFX project)...
But I never got round continuing that, so all I have is like two station roofs, not coded, and nothing in particular for industrial stations. Who knows I might continue that some day, but currently it's not much and not very useful unfortunately.

Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
You could simply enlarge them using hq2x. Generally that gives the best results with sprites.Ammler wrote:maybe someone likes to fix the glitches which happen during simple resize I made for the OpenTTD title letters:

Re: [8bpp] Graphics Replacement Project - OpenGFX
Try irfan view for resizing, its better then MS Paints resize method. Could also just have new large letters from scratch :\
