The livery refit option will mean we can have "Pacer" as a vehicle type and refits to any one of the 3 (actually 4...) models.

Did some more detailing, produced new roofs by staring at existing roofs until something that looked better came out.

e: yeah, I'm absolutely horrible at lighting. Is it left or right? I seem to get a different answer from every "guide" out there. I've been experimenting a bit based on the CT 156/8? someone posted several pages back & also working on a central car, so I think I can improve it a fair bit.

As for the real thing, well...I had to spend two hours on the things today, and the bumping sends me to sleep rather than bothering me, to be honest. Do wish they hadn't taken the heaters straight off a bus, though.

e2: the diagonals are identical to the 12.5% reduced as in the grf scale standard on the brset website minus a couple at the bottom which seemed out of place (so it's actually shorter, though not in terms of the outside limits, just internals).

I rotated the palette but this obviously raises the question of whether I used any colours I shouldn't have. Is there an easy way to check?

I must say, you've really nailed the | views. with the / and \ views remember that the light in TT comes from the left so you need to make the side away from the light in darker tones. Your self instruction technique seems to be working marvels. A very good job! :D If only the real "trains" were half as good as this... :P

Your diagonals seem to look too high and your palette is upside down and mirrored.

Yes, remember that the size guide Michael uses also applies for us because Ronstar - God, if you like - suggested so.

Since God knows all, we adopted that.

I hope you really mean right, or everything I've seen drawn for TT is completely wrong.

There is no left and right. Both are wrong. Left/Right for whom? The sprite or the artist?
Please use EAST, WEST refering to game map instead.

I mean the right of the gaming screen. Using North, South, East and West is confusing because people have different ideas of where North is on a ttd map due to the isometric view. Is it the top point directly straight up or the top left side of the map or the top right of the map? How about we just use left and right for clarity? Everyone else knows what we are on about and I've never encountered any difficulty before by using left and right.

I sometimes wonder if you nitpick just to wind people up Athanasios.

Well, North is always up, regardless how a map is cut.
Is it [...] the top left side of the map or the top right of the map?
Strange ideas. :P

I´ve attached a sketch for clarity. 8)

I.e., a statement like
Ameecher wrote: remember that the light in TT comes from the right
would translate to "from south-east". (But exactly from which direction is still open for discussion ...)

http://flourish.org/upsidedownmap/ says otherwise, even historical references.

Is that 'gospel' (reference, please) or interpretation? As you've drawn it, there's only 90 degrees between left and right - why isn't right == E and left == W?

Edit: BTW, how do I quote inline attachments so they still show the picture? Or perhaps I don't...

This seems to do the trick:

Though it may do strange things if you have added attachments too.

(Whether or not that is /supposed/ to work is an entirely different matter.)
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

For some odd reason, looking at those upside down maps makes me feel sick. I don't know why.

Well anyway, for reference, in TTD, I always assumed that north is the top left part of a tile, not the top corner.

Yes, using compass directions is totally weird in TTD. Let's stick with Left, Right, Up, Down. And unless you are very small or have the rare console version of TTD, none of us have ever seen TTD from anything other than the ordinary player view, so there's no need to worry about anything other than that one perspective.

Well, in any case I did a bit of work on a middle carriage, a more 144-esque front end and some slight shading improvments. I'm pretty much operating blind from here having never done this before so getting it to an "acceptable" state will probably take time.

The horizontal and vertical views look great so far. A promising new artist I reckon.

The unmentioned there is revealing but quite understandable! I honestly have no idea how people do these things right from scratch. 3-car \ view (at least, approximately what it'd look like at present):
