Please forgive if this is posted in wrong area

I am playing Spring 2013, latest release Dec 2014.

It is great - but I want to report a glitch. save game attached.

Coal being transported to Flenside Steel Mill will not unload unless I set Unload all and no loading. The vehicles, when going from lower left to upper right, don't travel on the road, but are driving on the grass verge....

The max waiting to be processed is way below the holding.

All other vehicles appear to be OK.

This is not a game stopper, as the workaround works, but I assume the dev will want to know. No need to contact me re fix, but I am happy to help of you need more info.

Thanks for all the work....

SHIRLEY

Not having a look at the save, the issue with the vehicle driving on the grass is likely due to a misalignment issue with the vehicle itself, which I'm guessing is a NewGRF vehicle and not a default OpenTTD vehicle.

That is correct. It is Mammoth Major 8. The problem with the graphics AND the problem with the failure to unload is happening to just this one truck type going to this one delivery point within the scenario I was playing - but I have not made any diagnostic tests to see if I can reproduce the issue with other truck types or delivery points or cargo. The game is at 1937, with 9 trains, 219 vehicles, 73 ships, no competitors, 102 stations.

This is only for info to the developer, in case he is interested in 'issues'. I am NOT requesting a fix for myself.

Thanks SHIRLEY

The other when running the same map in multiplayer (have tested and it happens even if you create a new map).

Re: Spring 2013 Patch Pack - English Help (Updated 12/03/201

Post by Valle »

Using Spring 2013 Patch Pack v2.0.103 Full (running on Mac OS X) I discovered a bug that may be related to the pathfinder - specifically, YAPF for trains. Members of the group of train 1333 occasionally get lost when they're supposed to travel from Grandvillard Gare Pompidou CFF to Bättwil Bahnhof. When this save game is loaded, train 1333 is located in a freshly built depot in Crésuz, far away from where the train is supposed to be, completely lost. The depot was created because the train was lost and refused to proceed once it had reached the one-way path signal entering Crésuz station. It could definitely reach Bättwil through the network, but it cannot find a route. It even runs against the back of a one-way path signal once it's let out of this depot. Could anybody please have a look and see what's going on here? I'm convinced that it's a technical problem of the game.

I have had this problem on this route for an extended period of time. Most of the time, this group of trains manages to get from Grandvillard to Bättwil, but occasionally, they get lost entirely and end up causing a jam. Other trains using this high speed line without calling at Bättwil never get lost. I am ruling out the station design of Grandvillard as the cause for this unwanted behavior as all other train services behave correctly here. The station of Grandvillard has even seen a complete redesign since the beginning of these issues - but without an effect on my problem. It utilizes path signals, it's fully electrified and trains from all tracks can enter every possible route.

I've uploaded the savegame here.

Have you tried compiling the latest version, 2.2.192, and seeing if it reoccurs?

Hello Kamnet,

unfortunately, this savegame was created in the old version of this patch pack and hence it's not compatible with the latest binary ("broken savegame - invalid chunk size"). Were any changes made to the pathfinders since the release of v2.0.103?

Best regards,
Val

I don't know if there were any changes to the pathfinder. You could try downloading the latest version of the patch pack and starting a new game and attempt to recreate the conditions that cause the problem in the older version.

I would have liked to suggest that you try converting from the old save game format to the new one, but it doesn't appear that Pi1985 has created a 2.0->2.1 converter, only a 2.1->2.2 converter. Hopefully he comes back around soon and can answer these questions directly.

Hello kamnet,

I'm afraid that replicating this error using a new savegame made from scratch is impossible. It would probably take me a year to replicate this behavior - if I succeed at all. I am playing on a 2048x4096 map with 75 height levels, this company has, among other things, ...

- 1,700 trains
- 2,762 road vehicles
- 236,275 rail pieces
- 142,641 road pieces
- 24,882 station tiles

I have to admit that I am a player who changes his NewGRF list in-game. I'd be surprised if pathfinder problems were caused by that, though.

hi i was wondering if somehow the improved available vehicles hide list could be set from the start screen that all games have the same hide list and that if you hide all the vehicles from a particular grf set i would let you know if you wanted to disable that grf set

has anyone made drive thu sheds yet?

also if there is a way to replace the base package (deb) with a 32bit spring package?

a minor bug, the small x (close window) has been replaced with a large (?) in game, the start screen remains normal
i have updated the gfxbase to the latest, i also tried using the nightly but still no change
and a configuration error on start screen, what is the value meant to be?

If that's the case, then it's likely impossible for the author to track down the issue. Typically patch pack authors won't even waste their time if a save game has been altered in the middle of play.

No, the game has to initialize the NewGRFs first, and this can only be done from within a running game.

Nope, not yet!

You'll have to compile it yourself and put it in place, but typically you can run multiple versions of OpenTTD without conflict.

You're running a NewGRF which alters the menu GUI. Remove it and it will work as expected.
maxiecool2 wrote:and a configuration error on start screen, what is the value meant to be?
Those errors typically come up because you've run another version of OpenTTD and the one you're running at this moment doesn't recognize a particular entry (the value doesn't exist at all for that version of OpenTTD). From my experience your running copy will simply ignore that entry and move on.

Kamnet can you link the 2.1-2.2 converter? I only got the 1.7-2.1 converter, and I'd love to migrate to 2.2

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to thank you for this amazing patch pack!
As a mac user, I have tried to run the bundle created by Aantono (http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... 0#p1140454), however I was getting error that my OS version wasn't correct.
After couple days for trying I have managed to compile and run the game. So if there are any people not being able to run this pack v2.2.192 on mac, that's the way I did it.
I'm using OSX 10.10 Yosemite with Xcode 6.3.2

The solution was:
1) (within source code, that you download) Copy all files (there should be 8 .grf files) from bin/data into bin/baseset. I'm not a programmer, so I don't know what exactly it does, but this is how I got rid of a problem when during opening Openttd couldn't find these files.

2) In terminal, use command

Code: Select all

cd
followed by your binaries directory

3) In terminal, use command

Code: Select all

LDFLAGS="-stdlib=libstdc++" ./configure
Thanks to Mngrif for the solution! This way you can still change font in a game (through editing openttd.cfg file) There are many options how to do the configure part, but that's the only one that worked for me as the newest version of OSX or Xcode (whatever it is...)
4) In terminal, use command

Code: Select all

make
If you want to speed up the compilation process you can create more than 1 process (so more than one logical core of your processor will be used). Command

Code: Select all

make -j 2
will use 2 logical cores. During the compilation I got couple "easy-to-fix" errors. They say e.g. that the compiler doesn't understand operator >>. It tells you to put space in between. So you have to find the file (in the source code folder, there is "src" folder where the .cpp files are), open it with simple text editor and put this space.
Then run the command

Code: Select all

make
again. The compilation will continue from the file that generated error.
5) Once you get no errors you have to create a bundle using command

Code: Select all

make bundle
That will create "bundle" folder in your source code folder. There should be your OpenTTD application.

Should you have any questions, or if there is any better way to do it, please let me know here or via PM :)
I have my own Screenshot Topic! :o (!YaY!)

- bugger, it would help greatly
- ya same reply
- so i can directly overwrite the official files?
- i have tested all newgrfs installed with no change
- just edited the config file

No you should not overwrite files. Each version of OpenTTD has files specifically for it that if you do an overwrite will cause conflicts. Instead you can safely install multiple copies of the game in separate folders. Anything that OpenTTD places in shared OS folders will safely copy over.

If you're still having UI problems, first start by removing ALL NewGRFs. If you still have problems then post a screenshot, and perhaps a copy of your config file. You might also want to consider temporarily renaming your config file and starting with a fresh one to see if that fixes your issue.
