two locomotives same train
hello, if two locomotives same train formation is added, it will increase the speed?
You have to change some settings?
Thanks

Re: two locomotives same train
It'll add the horsepower of both of the engines together, but the top speed will not increase.
Re: two locomotives same train
To add on top of the previous post, it will also decrease the amount of time it takes for a train to reach top speed, it will improve how quickly a train can move across an incline, but a train can go no faster than its top speed.

Re: two locomotives same train
Maybe this would make it a good time to bring this up, but what about if you have two different engines on the same train? One with a top speed of 100, the other with 110? Does it accelerate up to 100 using the power of both, and then only the added power of the faster one to get to 110? Or does the lowest top speed of any engine make that the top speed for the whole train? How does that work?kamnet wrote:To add on top of the previous post, it will also decrease the amount of time it takes for a train to reach top speed, it will improve how quickly a train can move across an incline, but a train can go no faster than its top speed.
Re: two locomotives same train
That's something you can test quite easily in a game. But here's the answer: when you combine two locomotives with different stats:
Max speed: the slowest max speed of any trains within the consist (doesn't matter if it's locomotive or wagon)
Max tractive effort: sum of all locomotives
Horsepower: sum of all locomotives
Tilt: Whatever is at the very front of consist decides if the whole train has tilt or not.

According to the NewGRF spec, every vehicle in the consist must have the tilt flag set for the train to get the bonus.Sylf wrote:Tilt: Whatever is at the very front of consist decides if the whole train has tilt or not.
