Objdata folder problem.

Post by CC147045 »

I've made a mess somewhere and I'm not sure what I've done!
Quite happily playing lomo earlier and thought I'd download some new vehicles, easy enough.
Popped them into my objdata folder as you do and now I can't scroll up or down in the scenario editor...... I can only see the first 20 or so, anything further down the list, I can't get at!
Is there a limit to how many items you can have in your objdata folder?
Like I say, it was working fine earlier and I could scroll the list in scenario editor to choose different vehicles, since putting more in tonight, I can't scroll. Have I overloaded?

Hope you can help guys.

Lee!

Plastik is right about limit and It's more a vehicle limit than an overall dat limit. Try making a second dat folder with name of objdat_1 and the original. I place US stock in the original and European and Asian in the other. Than is a matter of changing folder names and the checking data time to run different folders.

I actually go a step further. I make a portable installs for different sets (US. UK, SQ's, Strongbows, Etc.) and just run them from my harddrive.
If you remove the music and default scenarios. they get pretty small in size.

I'll also make a dedicated portable for a map I play. Like serpent or soldier summit for example, and zip it and archive it when I am done. (these ome in handy if i want to play another map with the same objects. i can just reuse the portable.

Then again. I tend to destroy my objdata often when testing stuff. because of that, this works best for me.

I can relate to oops there went that objdat folder. I've tried so many weird things with tracks and recoding vehicles to run on them I have the to folders and another 2 zipped for backup of the 2 and of course a zipped copy of original.
