Pictures of your OTTD games
Nice pics White Rabbit!
My game is a lot more advanced now, track everywhere and the towns are much bigger. The year is now 2011. Today we travel along the route from Nürnheim to Niederbrück and then following in our footsteps all those years ago when we take a train along the main commuter corridor to Düsselhaven am Main, we then branch south along the valley route up to Fort Brückheim, our final destination. This story is in 5 parts.
Picture 1: Nürnheim, a town located in the hills. Our train has just arrived, behind a nice, big, beefy BR101, one of the companies newest. On the next platform is the all-stops local service to Niederbrück, hauled by a BR250.
Picture 2: We set off ahead of the local, and speed up to the routes max. speed of 160 kph. The lush countryside giving the passengers a pleasant view. Coffee is served from the mini-bar as the train roars on.
Picture 3: Freudenmünster, located on a hill-top and an awkward place for a station! Blocking the express heading the other way is another local train on the same service as the earlier one, although this time pulled by one of the BR116’s that share the routes services…

Picture 4: Between the towns of Würzfurt and Herzberg we speed, not stopping at either. This section is 4-track for convenience. Both towns are of roughly the same size, and both getting only visited by the local trains.
Picture 5: Round the town of Bammund we go, the engineers having a difficult time with this one. Parts of the mountain had to be strengthened to take the weight of the frequent trains. The track now threads its way through the streets, and then down towards Niederbrück.
Picture 6: We descend the Niederbrück loop, used to get the descent done in as little space as possible. Already the outer suburbs of the city are visible, cant be long now…

Picture 7: Back up the hill we trundle, just getting ahead of the I.C.E. service to Bonn Hbf via Niederbrück. The route gets very busy now, with trains every couple of seconds!
Picture 8: It feels good to be back, doesn’t it? The station is much busier now, just at this moment, several trains are in the immediate area: 3 BR614’s joined together for the rush hour, which make their way to Nortbrück, although leaving later than our train, we take the earlier BR612, also in a set of 3, so as to get some ideal train-spotting time at Düsselhaven am Main Hauptbahnhof.
Picture 9: We head off, our IC train from before beating us to the bridge. You know the journey from here so we’ll skip onto Düsselhaven.

Picture 10: Now this is what I call busy!!!! 8 trains just at this point come from all over and head all over as well! Our train has to wait for an empty platform while a BR614 heads back up to Niederbrück. Another BR614, on the same service as the one next to us, is heading for Nortbrück. The other train on our route is also present, sitting collecting passengers. An IC train from Nortbrück to Coberg crosses, along with an IR train from Coberg heading for Fort Bruckheim, we are no way in time to catch it but if were lucky we may catch the EMU…
Picture 11: Dammit! Just as we arrive the other one pulls away, oh well, another one will be along soon! A BR420 on a regional all-stops service is leaving as an arriving IR train from Coberg enters.
Picture 12: Only a few minutes later our train, another BR614, arrives and we pile in with the crowd.

Picture 13: Moments later we depart again, heading south under the mountain, on our right is a V200 pulling an IR service, whilst on the far side, an old BR120 pulls an IC non-stop service from Nortbrück to Niederbrück.
Picture 14: A while later we emerge from the tunnel, the bypass clearly in view which takes IC trains around Düsselhaven am Main.
Picture 15: Moments later we pull into the terminus station, situated at one end of the historic, medieval town. The towns station has yet to be renovated, and as such it lacks the cover of a shelter. Not many trains stop here, most continue further up the route in the opposite direction to Rottbrücken.

That's so great jamesvassie, I really like to read your stories which make the shots interesting.
Also I noticed jamesvassie do not have (or do not show) his cargo service - no mail and valuables, neither any other cargo.
I have spot the error, too.White Rabbit wrote:Yeah, pretty screenshots.
I noticed a bug with the shading of the PBS tracks on Nürnheim-Rottbrücken_14, however. See if you can spot it.
More industries now, plz.

Thanks for your support White Rabbit and MeusH!
Ive only just had the 2nd bank on the map appear, luckily its at Fort Brükheim, the 1st being at Niederbrück! I see several valuable services, especially as both are producing several hundred bags each!
Also, all trains have at least one mail coach and some have two. I am definetly thinking in starting a coal service from the coal-rich area of Fort Brückheim to the powerstation down at Innsdorf where this already an airport!
Thanks
James

Ok, as suggested a freight route was setup, transporting coal from Fort Brückheim to Innsdorf on a 4 track mainline.
48 BR181's were employed in double traction to each pull 14 hoppers.
Each train can move 560 tonnes of coal per load.
Doing the math, thats 24 * 14 = 336 hoppers in total.
All in all, we can pull 24 * 560 tonnes of coal if all trains make one journey = 13,440!
A lot of coal!

Thanks for your support jacke and jpmaster!!
Its greatly appreciated!
i have left the game to run till 2051, for those who are interested in town growth, the map looks pretty grown over now!
I am thinking of how to develop the transport routes on the southern part of the network, near Kulmheim and its surrounding area.
Cheers

Lol, thanks. For some reason though, when i got there, i didnt get ranked!White Rabbit wrote:What was your rank at the end of 2051? Do I even need to ask?
Anyway, the city of Kassel is near the bottom-right map corner. It is possible to get an IC train from there direct to Niederbrück!
My next plan is to create a dedicated HSL (High Speed Line) from Kassel to Niederbrück, going round the far side of Würzfurt and Herzberg, and joining the Niederbrück-Bonn line.
At the minut, passengers have to take the long way, going via Kulmheim and Rottbrücken.
