Just as in every other MediaWiki. -> Edit <- page and then add your graphics by inserting*Edit* I have managed to upload pictures to the wiki, but how do I add them to the GFX replacement page?

I was looking at this page, and I couldn't find a edit button there. But after looking around a little I found another page I could edit, and it seemed to work. But that page I linked to before doesn't seem to update, though this one is updated. Some of the things I have made doesn't have their own space on the wike (like the Beluga plane) would it be possible to greate one, or should I just leave it out?
I can't find an edit button either.Crazy Vaclav wrote:I was looking at this page, and I couldn't find a edit button there.
I can find an evil side-scrolling page, though.
I'd have to be running at around 2000-wide (Yes, two thousand) for it not to side scroll. That is entirely too wide. Pages should be designed to not sidescroll at 1024x768, if not 800x600.

I have an Antonov plane in OTTD and it is the one that I use the most - great for cargo.Crazy Vaclav wrote:I guess so, but I don't know what they are supposed to be in the game. I doubt the beluga and the Antonov is on the list.

I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you. Spoilers and bodykits are how much of the wall you take with you. Rollcages and windownets are how much of a mess you leave on the wall.

well at least now there is an opportunity to replace the silly futuristic ones with slightly more plausible silly futuristic ones. Lots of designs that can be modelled, just look at any discovery aviation doc.

Yes, realistically futuristic planes. Another would be the new 747 Boeing have announced to compete with the A380. But such planes would have to wait until vehicle slots can be expanded if we were to use Alltakens "push them further into the future" proposal. Otherwise there would be a lot of wasted models

Hmm i dunno about vehicle slots but i think the sprite restriction is being lifted as we speak. certainly we are moving away from sprite numbers and towards names.Born Acorn wrote:Yes, realistically futuristic planes. Yeah, right.Alltaken wrote:we are moving away from sprite numbers and towards names.
The sprites will *always* have numbers, because that's what computers deal with.
They may not be consistant between any two OTTD games, or between any two OTTD runs, but they *WILL* have numbers. Takes too long to do a string lookup.
Given a number, and a proper numbering scheme, it takes two machine instructions, maybe three, to find that sprite. Given a name, and a sorted list, it takes something around six instructions per character[0], and each character needs to be checked O(log(n)) times (some function of the logarithm of the number of strings).
[0] If my memory of the source for strcmp serves (my copy of the source is written in asm).
Re a different thread: Glad to see a moderator do something vaguely Simon-esque.

about numbers.... well i don't know about internally, i assume internally it is best to assign numbers. but in terms of file management, giving sprites a set number seems very inflexible.
so i guess on game load it works it all out then gives them a number for that session.

Simon Travaglia. And locking without even an answer or a link, yes.Alltaken wrote:who is Simon?is this about me locking the pre-answered question thread.

For the future planes may I suggest to model these planes:
- hypersonic planes like X-30 or X-43
- large winged body like boeing 's BWB project and Pelican
For the ships, why don't consider the ekranoplanes idea?

well nothing would be learnt if i answered the question.DaleStan wrote:Simon Travaglia. And locking without even an answer or a link, yes.Alltaken wrote:who is Simon?is this about me locking the pre-answered question thread.
which was previously answered in the "top" post of the forum. "before asking questions read this"

I just meant replace the graphics with a little more realistic ones, like indeed replacing the Dinger 1000 with the sonic cruiser and e.g. replacing the dinger 200 with the Boeing X-48.Alltaken wrote:replace them? i'd say just move them furthur to the future, and edit them a bit to be a bit mroe realistic.Korenn wrote: well at least now there is an opportunity to replace the silly futuristic ones .....

A flying wing design that is technically feasible, but has some practical issues like being able to land, or take off for that matter

And the Hyperdart could be replaced by Virgin's proposed sub-orbital space taxi based on Burt Rutan's X-price winning ship design. Ironically fitting, because the hyperdart was as rubbish at transporting passengers as this plane is going to be.
And there are many more ideas out there for planes that are less silly as the ttd ones, which Chris Sawyer would undoubtedly have included if they had existed at the time he made the game.
