Also Spacek, why has Twi been replaced with Nyancat? Not impressed
No, hyro said that the twi pic in my sig was breaking forum rules, so I'm looking for a new one. In the mean time, I changed my avatar
It was? How so? Size maybe... though I've seen much bigger around here (Note - No one ever try it. You know what I mean. Don't )
Hope to see something soon then. Be proud man, be proud!
For me, there are only two true diesel beasts.
A classic Intercity 125 powered with a Valenta engine, and a 221 Voyager for the modern day. But still, the sound and sight of an old 125 powering up and leaving a station, or whistling buy... frigging amazing. And it's still crystal clear in my memory.
Fraid so I know a lot of people dislike them, but the shape and look of them I find pretty awesome.
And I like the sound of them shooting past at speed.
Not a fan of the Voyager. The 180 looks much sleeker and less like someone has bought a bodykit from Halfords and has bolted it on the outside of a train...

Just had a flashback from when I was younger, maybe 7 or 8 years old, and was in the car park at Newton Abbot train station in the bit where it narrows as it goes alongside the southern approach to the station, so I was only a few feet from the track. I was sat on the bonnet of my nan's rusty red Nissan Bluebird (which was nicknamed the tank because of the amount of damage she did to other vehicles and lampposts in it) waiting for my sister to get off the train from school when an HST (in the old Great Western paintcheme with the green flying thing) flew past bellowing ridiculous amounts of acrid smoke. By the time I noticed what was going on I was in a massive black cloud. I remember being unable to smell or taste anything other than the burning oil for a few days afterwards. The sound of valentas reminds me of the taste still.

But the 180s are a static display are they not?
They need long rests so that they get their beauty sleep. If they didn't they'd be fugly like a 70.
What ever you prefer to call that noise I can't very easily make the sound by text
PHHHHHHEEERRROOOOOOO
Nope... Doesn't work. Screw it, you know damn well what I meant. Stop mocking me

Anyway yes, the 125 is a sexy beast.

Decided that'd be a bit too obvious for the 'Guess the Station' contest (even if I cropped the sign out)!
I was social distancing before it was cool Formerly known as 47434
Last train journey I could be bothered to look up the headcode for: 04/02/2016, Mirfield to Batley, 2J34 1459 Huddersfield to Leeds, Northern Rail 144015
Well you never know. They're trying to get the prototype running again They've not done too badly so far, considering the state she used to be in not too many years back now.
Meanwhile, here's a related old-school PHWOOOAAAAARRRR!!!!! (bit on the small side sorry!)

Where have you been?! They've been with Hull Trains and Grand Central for years (and now back with FGW too!)

I think it was more a reference to them being notoriously unreliable.
