Well, it's not hard to figure out what the Penn part is based on.
The Yeovil Pen Mill... sorry, I don't know what that is.

Yes, once I alleviate congestion in the network around Penn Station, I will add an extra line. Stay tuned. :D

As promised, more screenshots!

The reworked Yorkville Penn Station is narrowly avoiding a severe bottleneck (more on that later). That is why Yorkville Transport has had to build a fourth track at the station.

Yorkville Yard used to be an even-bigger bottleneck, until it was converted to a thru station. The loop track on the right was constructed to divert trains from Yorkville Penn if needed.

An updated map, with more services. They will be detailed in the next post.

The new services are called the Silversmith and the Shuttle.

The Silversmith was only able to fit into Yorkville because of the capacity increases detailed in the post above. The Shuttle, however, could not fit, and thus has to terminate at Hammond. When the line was built, Hammond residents expected to have a one-seat, one-stop ride to Yorkville. Now, they have to transfer at Tipton.

There are a few creative station designs along the line.

Here is Hammond. A Shuttle is preparing to terminate here, while a Silversmith shoots through.

Here is Bassett. The train to Mayfield stopped short of the crosswalk to allow passengers to run for the train in the other direction.
Allan & Co-4-Bassett.PNG
Allan & Co-4-Bassett.PNG (309.95 KiB) Viewed 1488 times
And finally Chatham, where the two lines split up. Also visible is Mayfield, where the Shuttle terminates.

The company faces a growing problem: lack of capacity in Yorkville. There is another local/express line planned, and a few things might happen:
  • Both new services will terminate at Tipton, where a transfer to the Silversmith will be necessary to continue. This is not desirable because the Silversmith will be overloaded.
  • The new express service will continue to Yorkville, and the Miller will be rerouted for a transfer to the Flower. This option is the most desirable, as it provides the best balance of service and population.
  • Constructing a new set of approach tracks to YPS, and converting the station to a 7-track terminal station. This option is least desirable, because it will disrupt life in Yorkville. Also, this option might not help.
So I ask you, the shareholders. What should the company do?

Since that map has a bug, I have started a new one.

This company is called On-Track and has one main corridor so far, with a line splitting off.

First, a map. Feel free to request any area for a screenshot.

On-Track 1 Map.PNG (13.94 KiB) Viewed 3417 times

Next is the main station, Bloomington (BLM). Here, a Cross Bay (P40 and Superliners) is loading on the middle track, while a Regional (AEM-7 and Amfleets) is arriving on the way to Buena Vista (BUE). Bloomington Tower controls the entire network for now.

Finally is Millville Junction, where the line to Tipton (TPT) diverges from the main corridor. Due to a dispatching error, the slower Cross Bay has been allowed to go ahead of the faster Regional, which means that the Regional will be delayed. :(

...continued.

In this picture, two Cross Bays pass each other on a bucolic, single-track railroad.

Here, a Regional passes a Cross Bay in the other direction. The embankment built here leaves nearby Crawford with two choices: either lose its port or buy a new, small fleet of ships to fit under the railroad bridge.

In this screenshot, you see a Regional passing Clayton Yard, where trains are serviced. Superliners (on the Cross Bay) cannot travel along the corridor near West Liberty (WLB) because of a low tunnel clearance. Therefore, they must use the track visible near the lower left.

The reason I didn't reply sooner is because the company was busy creating a new express service, the Acela Extrapid.

First is Tipton (TPT).
On-Track 2 Tipton.PNG
On-Track 2 Tipton.PNG (301.89 KiB) Viewed 1488 times
The Extrapid trains frequently got stuck behind Regional trains. To alleviate the problem, the company built passing tracks. Here an Extrapid is passing two Regionals, one in each direction.

And a map. Feel free to request any area.

Note that with the new service, Buena Vista (BUE) has received an additional platform.

Here, you see an Extrapid detouring because of track work.
