Instead of tunneling under the mainline, bridge the mainline, it will increase the speed.hectobar wrote:any suggestions?

Because tunnels don't have speed limits, yet bridges do?petert wrote:Instead of tunneling under the mainline, bridge the mainline, it will increase the speed.hectobar wrote:any suggestions?
Granted, bridges are cheaper and take up less space on a flatworld, but if you terra-form probably with a tunnel, they are faster (in the later stages of the game).
My only comment on making the junction look "better" would be do you have the traffic flows to justify fly-overs? You could create level junctions (at the small expense of delaying a few trains).
The other thing you could do with the tunnel is remove it, and have the mainline bridge the branch. Together with a little bit of diagonal trench digging that will enable you to have the branch line stay mainly diagonal, and thus "straighten" it out a bit.

Well, if there are many curve length errors, then yes, they do.John wrote:Because tunnels don't have speed limits, yet bridges do?
Re: [OTTD] hectobars' screenshots
Tunnel the main line under the crossover
best of both worlds. Just double up the tunnel if capacity becomes an issue.

Re: [OTTD] hectobars' screenshots
thank you both, but the upwards hill hardly slows my trains down, and anyways i have had an idea for it, based from John's suggestion.
PLUS: audigex, that is a ridiculous idea. if i had lots of trains on the main line, which i do, it would cause some congestion (trains waiting for another train to get out of the tunnel, whilst much fewer trains take this branch.

Re: [OTTD] hectobars' screenshots
Two tunnels takes away the capacity issue - and your signal seperation is the length of a tunnel anyway, so you'd only need to double up the tunnels once you put signals every 2 tiles.audigex wrote:Just double up the tunnel if capacity becomes an issue.

I know, iu keep forgetting to change it to 2 tiles.audigex wrote: and your signal seperation is the length of a tunnel anyway

Re: [OTTD] hectobars' screenshots
Right then. Time to start afresh. I can't believe how stupid I used to be.....
anyway! This is from a multiplayer game with my brother called substandard enigmas & co. for the first time we decided to play on the same company. HE dealt with the road vehicles and I the trains. Boats and aircraft as a shared responsibility. It started off as constant arguments as one of us always spent all the money but as a team of two our company built up quicker than ever!
Here are some shots of my network. I can now make eficient networks but eye-pleasing probably not. Feedback?
