Hello Vidar

Thank you for responding.

As you can see above Dave61 has done a good job. Ive just finished my play testing of the scenario ive made this morning from that map. I suspect ive put towns out of position and industries where they have never existed before. It seems to work just great.

That not to say you couldnt do a better job of course. So thank you but not needed now. Another time perhaps?

Vidar, I could need your help!

I'm trying to create a scenario based in Germany, but the results I got with map generator were quite poor. Sea, where there shouldn't be sea, and things like this...
So, please, could you help me with this?
The map I'm thinking of should include the following: Rostock should be on the top, and maybe Frankfurt on the bottom. The sea should only be a very small part of the map.
Thanks in advance if you do this for me!

Larry

Edit: Severous showed me a map with this region. So I don't need a conversion anymore. Nevertheless: Thanks for the service you're offering here!

I've been trying to make an OK map over the eastern Caribbean Islands and Florida, but I can't figure out how to do this elevation thing. I use this map:

The results, along with the grayscale BMP is to be found in the attached rar.

Could anyone help me get the elevation right?

I think converting conventional maps is rather tricky due to presence of names, gridlines, symbols, etc. The attached was generated from 3D datamaps, I hope it suits you. Elevation is at 50m, region is N.America.

On reflection, there's a case for tuning this through 45degrees to increase the land:sea ratio. If I get time tonight I will try that.

WOW! That's just great. I do agree, the names on maps are extremely annoying, but in the map i posted above is hand-painted in Photoshop, using some books as reference.

I didn't look at the RAR file only the picture  , hence my comment about extraneous stuff. Sorry.

Attached is similar map to version 1 but rotated 45degrees. I don't think there's much one can do about the snowy peaks but I see a great industry opportunity: caribbean ski huts.

To stop the snow you need to change the climate in the scenario editor.

Is there a way to change the advanced options in a scenario, such as vehicles and building styles with a text editor?
And, is there a way to change the starting year of the scenario after you've finished it?

I don't think that you can edit a scenario directly, but you can load it as a landscape and change whatever you want, saving it with a new filename. Also, at the map window, you can still go back to the object screen and select/deselect vehicles or change the region.

middle earth

Post by Boah »

Right, as I couldn't find a Middle Earth scenario I decided to go and make one. Took me a while to find the topographic map, but it appears I didn't look in the most obvious place.

It's raw out of the box from ampz' mapgen and empty. I'm going to work on it as time allows by adding towns and doing fine tuning.

Collection of the original topographic map, as well as a couple of adjusted ones for use with ampz' mapgen. Two versions of the scenario in sc5 format as well.
