Nite Owl wrote:Interesting idea and the screenshots are very nice as always. I do have one question: How did you start a game with platforms already in place or did you just start there for the sake of the storyline?
Created the scenario, built the tracks, went back and editted the scenario to expand the cities around the tracks then started the game properly.

Oh, and thanks :)

Ooooh, I love post-communistyness, what a splendid combination! And same question as Badger!

Yes I'm using OTTD and the train doesn't actually change locos. I have used an invisible loco GRF to make the coaches seperate then run a single loco into the same platform.

Yet more proof that people don't read previous posts. Not only is your question asked twice within the last 5 posts, its answered in the post directly above yours

Its all part of the story-telling process. Whether this practice happened in Germany I don't know, but it certainly used to in the UK, and fairly recently too.

How a railway should be run...

Nuremberg started as a junction station but a town grew up around it, nowadays, still important as a junction it has become a destination in it's own right. 2 ICs pull of the mainline into the station to provide a connection with the REs that operate to the station. Meanwhile a BR120 IC overtakes as it heads out of the tunnel. Timetabling enables this seamless connection and overtaking of services at this location.

8 platforms for a town of 482? I presume you envisage growth? Also, does that arriving ET-87 go for those platforms simply because they're the closest? Can't see any waypoints.....

I envisage growth and also it's the terminus of many routes and with paxdest that means lots of passengers. There is also another rapidly growing town nearby that will likely border the station on the north side. As for the ET-87, it's using those platforms because they are the nearest, yes. The BR01 on the Rheingold service loops round the depots because it is too long for those platforms so instead seeks the longer platforms to the south. When the station was originally built it just had those 3 longer platforms and the 3 to the north were added later but had to be shorter because of the tight curves involved in the approach/depots being in the way.

In that case, good work with the clever design.

Just realised that there are waypoints for access to the longer platforms but these are only used when trying to persuade a train that is continuing to where the other ET-87 is that it wants these platforms because the other line can't be accessed from the northern platforms.
