A couple of pics from my attempt at Raichase's great Tycoon City scenario.

The first one shows an ET-87 on the passing loop waiting for a train full of beer destined for Tycoon City CDB (N) to come of the single-track section from the brewery station. A bus can also be seen having just passed under the road bridges on its way to Tycoon City Industry.

The second pic shows the aforementioned brewery with the same beer train loading again, and a train full of grain approaching. The ET-87 can also be seen loading in the small suburban station. Thankfully the level crossings are protected by the PBS feature which lowers the barriers early otherwise my buses which pass this way would be pulp!
(Sorry Rai, I tried to avoid level crossings if I could :P )

All these new patch features are amazing!

Let me also thank Raichase for his help with my newgrf/ttdpatch.cfg files!

Two more, this time bus pics:

1) This demonstrates the old saying about waiting for a bus then three come along at once! These three are all from the same place as well, Tycoon City CBD West.

2) Two intercity buses, one arriving and one leaving Power Island. Both come non-stop from Tycoon City CBD. I didn't build the roads or road bridges, but I did build the railway line which crosses to the mainland on both sides of the island between Tycoon City and TYC Western (off to the south). Unfortunately I'm having trouble with awkward local authorites on the TYC Western side, so I haven't built a station at that end yet!

Nice screenshots Melkur! Here's the same place but couple years later. I'm now building two tracks line through Power Island, as you can see it's not finished yet. I had to rebuilt highway and its exit a little.

Other screenshots:

1. Gruntburg suburban station: at left you can see main line that will be connected as soon as it will be finished. Some buses are also operating.

2. This place is reserved for main station in Tycoon City. Now there is only little sub-station, but work is going fast because lots of passengers needs new conntections.

3. 'Money maker' - North Wood Line and West - East Cross Line meet together in Weningpool. This Paper Mill is covering nearly all paper needs for Tycoon City. Also it's base income for my company.

Thanks, Siema! Yours are nice too & it's good to see other people's attempts at this scenario. Those new roads & buildings look fantastic (as always), I'm quite tempted by those now.

I've just got one more pic here, this one demonstrates why it's a bad idea to let a train ignore signals leading into a PBS block! Fortunately I was able to use autosave so I didn't lose much in this case.

Next screenies:

1. Rebuilt station near Gruntburg, quite strange layout

2. Already built Tycoon City Main Station. I'm establishing new connections now, so traffic is still low.

3. New station near TYC Western, this layout i like 8) only two platforms servicing 8 trains without any traffic jams.

Some nice station layouts, not well suited when the train shouldn't reverse and go alone the line...

(About the oneways, maybe that will be fixed soon)

Not sure about which layout you're talking, but if about, third trains can pass station but of course they can't stop if passing,in this case it is sub-station only. It's also due to known problem with stations with entrances on both sides and trains not always reversing to their directions.

It's not very problematic, but great to hear that! :P

I downloaded Aegir's "Arctic Isle" map, but after having over $1 Million in the first 10 years, I decided to make things a bit harder on myself :D I slightly edited the scenario to take out the coal mine nearest to the power plant, add another town and a food proc. plant on one of the other islands, and giving myself less money.

The intro goes something like this:

The Island Council has need of a transportation system. There are three islands in the chain, one is considerably farther from the other two. The council appropriated $200,000 for the project, but due to some shady dealings on the part of the previous contractor, nothing's been done and only $75,000 remained.

Armed with this, DM Enterprised Ltd. set out to build a transport system on the islands. Initially we were thinking rail, but given the bridgebuilding costs between the two main islands, the small amount of funds, and the small towns between the 2 main ones, buses were decided as the initial route to go.

We built bus stops at the four major towns along the island, but the small town of Mondinghead on the far western tip of the West Island had no road and therefore no connection... yet. An order was placed with Mack for 7 C-14 class buses. Only hauling 14 passengers, they weren't the greatest, but again... it was all we could afford at the time.

A few more shots from my current game showing the other 3 towns on the map. A new coal mine opened up near Grudington, so the company may be looking at purchasing some trucks to handle the traffic, but funds are a little tight right now.

Flounder's Inlet is the southernmost town in the chain, and home to A LOT of fishermen. There's been talk for years of a ferry service to the main island, but again, like the road to Mondinghead is only just talk at the moment.

Just a couple more.

The Island Council managed to scrounge up another $25,000 for the Company to buy a couple of new buses. the current ones weren't filling the demand. We went back to Mack and this time, bought a pair of big Suburban S-20 models, capable of 45MPH and carrying 20 people. Much better than the 30MPH, 14 person capacity C-14 model. One was put on the run between Truntown and Prarningpool and the other went on the Grudington-Tudingville route.

Hi,

Couple of shots from my latest game.
Moving from left to right, town wise.

1. Shorside has suffered much land loss to the ever increasing demands of land from Lakie Inc. This has allowed Lakie Inc. to might the demands of providing a fast effient service for all cargo. Resontly the Gold Mine shot up in production, forcing Lakie Inc. to buy a second Gold Train to compinsate. The Farm shortly after the route was approved for large scale re-construction, dropped in output, causing many trains to continue loading. Lakie Inc. is not sure if to scrap these trains or to wait for the Farms production to go back up. There has also been massive town growth since the first passenger line opeened in 1932.

2. Interbridge Atoll was the launching place of Lakie Inc. So it's only fair that A LOT of money has been spent raising the sea, to provide more space for the town to grow. The first passenger line opened in 1931 (late). After raising enough cash to raise the land to provide a fast flat land route for the trains to turn across on to the main island, the bridges were scraped (in 1936). Resontly thanks to a Lakie Inc. funded construction, food from the Food Processing Plant has been transported to the island, Lakie Inc. hopes this will incourage more town growth. Lakie Inc. has bought the land rights to a small land plot, which it plans to use to extend it's curren station and use for when it decides to expand onto the second largest island. Lakie Inc. Also plans on making a by pass lanes, linking both islands together directly, talks are currently going on about wether they can raise the needed land to do this rathar than removing parts of the town.

3. Pirates Island was chosen by Lakie Inc. to be the base of their operations. The once small town, had it's first passenger service in 1935. Lakie Inc. conclueded this is a valuable part of their network, with it providing Gold, Oil, Coal, Passengers and Mail. 1939 a massive reconstruction of the land next to the HQ and Oil wells was done allowing the current station to be built, at the same time an Oil Service was also started, the Oil Wells only provide a small amount of Oil, and have been dropping in production since starting the route. Lakie Inc. also started transporting the Gold from the Gold Mine, production is currently at an all time high, allowing Lakie Inc. to have a stable income for their main projects. Resontly the Coal started to be transportted by Lakie Inc. (1942) with the construction of a Power Station at the heart of their current network.

More Shots...

4. Bendstone Bridges was a small town, possible even village, until Lakie Inc. decided to take an interest in it's Oil Refinary. The first route was just the basic three platforms, when the main route to Pirates Island (Lakie Inc.'s Head Quaters) this town wasn't even thought of, this has cased many probably, when Lakie Inc. tried joining this town to the network. As you can see a poorly designed junction was constructed to link it ot the main line. Forunatly the main line was rathar in active, allowing minium traffic problems. But resontly, major traffic problems with the passenger service from Bendstone Bridges to Cear Sailing, have caused Lakie Inc. to make a two new platoforms, one which directly links to Clear Sailing, and another which joins to the main line closer to Pirates Island, which is used by the Oil Train, to try and cut down on major traffic issues. A new goods service has just been started in 1944 which has proved to be profitable but very slow due to the Oil Source fueling it. Also massive land raising was also done, to allow the town to grow in 1938, to give more passengers for the Clear Sailings service.

5. Clear Sailings was only resontly included in Lakie Inc's transport system when Lakie Inc. decided it would transport Coal. Most of the town growth was from the passenger service and food services. As well as providing a Service for passengers, Lakie Inc. also raised land to allow the Town to grow.

6. Megalopolis OutSkirts has always been at the heart of Lakie Inc.'s Network on the Main Land, Orginally a small 2 platform station, this has grow many times, requiring lots of planning permission from the local authorities. In 1935 a lower ground platform was built, with massive reconstruction to the landscape, this station has resontly been rebuilt to try and coupe with the increased traffic loads. Another major change is the basic Platform going to Interbridge Atoll, this has been moved closer to the town because of the lately reconstruction of the Station on the main line. Another major change is the new four platoforms for the Farm goods (Wheat and Livestock), the Farm trains seriously messed up the old platforms (below), and it was decided to give them their own deciated line. Lakie Inc. also funded the construction of the Power Station in 1942, and just last year funded the construction of the local Food Processing Plant. Allowing Lakie Inc. to provide desperatly need food services to all of the towns Lakie Inc. currently has linked to it's network.

Last lot, and the details of my game.

7. Resontly Lakie Inc. decided to service the Farm just outside of it's Main Line. However, since it was so close to the main line.

8. Picture of all of Lakie Inc.'s network(s).

Ok, details.
I'm using Rai's 'Between A Rock And A River' scenerio, which I must say, I like A LOT. I took Rai's advise on playing it to learn how to link up towns. Although I think I might have missed the method he wantted me to try and use. :o

My networks are rathar messy. I'm not sure if there realistic, but I tried my best. (Any comments on realism or in general, Rai? :]).

I'm currently playing with the Artic Renewal Set, which I must say is absolutely brilliant.
And before you ask, yes thats Hyronymus' Europian Roadset, and no this version isn't released.
Sorry Hyronymus, I didn't relise I was using them until after uploaded the screenshots.

Sorry for 3 longish posts. And I know my story telling is rathar bad (more like history) and thus boring.

[Edit] Uploaded Correct image for 7...

Hope you Enjoy them and like them,
~ Lakie
